    Hi

    X-Box One S (1TB). @ x genuine controllers and a wired mic (approved) item.

    I get the message "we are unable to find a microphone for these people" with the wired mic plugged into one, but not the other of the controllers.

    Seems a lot of people have this problem but i've not seen anyone with a definitive fix.

    I've done the power cycle, checked the handsets have up to date firmware, tried linking the controller in question to another account (parent profile) then back again, none of this worked. Yet, I plug the same mic into the other controller and instantly
    the muted symbol turns to a headset symbol and the error message "we are unable to find a microphone for these people" goes away?

    Please can anyone offer a definitive fix?

    Have exact same issue. Tried everything recommended, but no help. Has there been a recent update from Xbox causing this?

    I have tried the above, but with no joy.

    When I start a party there is a message 'We were unable to find a microphone for these people"

    The 3.5mm plug may be faulty and the adapter bypasses it.

    But try the Settings firmware update anyway.

    This Headset Support article may assist you. Take note of the headset adapter section as I found this to be the solution to most
    issues with headsets.

    In Settings>Kinect + Devices>Devices and accessories you will see ... (3 dots) click it and do a firmware update even if it reports its up to date.
