If you read the OP as a statement by Bill Gates or Phil Spencer, it kinda makes sense. Kinda.

Like one of Eurogamers 'EX' journalists have been tweeting recently,

If it wasn't for gaming media jumping on the 'Resolution/FPS' bandwagon since the release of the XB1/PS4, most gamers wouldn't know what the games are running at, be able to see the so called differences but it's great "Click Bait" to get people on their
sites ( mainly the fanboys )

Personally, concentrate on great gameplay FIRST! and as long as the games run smoothly I honestly couldn't give a hoot about pixels etc.

I said this many times but I never once asked or wondered what the resolution was on any of my 360 games. I was aware of the FPS which was important in some cases but not all. Good game that has nice character models and affects I'll play it regardless of
    res.

  5. Absolutely agree with this, to much negativity on the current 3 consoles doesn't bring calm or resolution to a problem that only exists in peoples minds.

I think resgate was born out of 2 similar consoles releasing at the same time, and multiplats running differently on each platform. Some sites milked this "click bait". There are still differences in the multiplats but (almost) everyone has moved on from
    that.

I think 60 FPS is more important that 1080p.

[/quote]Framerate is always more important than resolution which most will agree on however devs should still be pushing for both. Honestly what needs to happen is let people enable / disable some graphical effects and decide on if they want the graphics
    > framerate. Warframe for example does this on console where the FPS is unlocked from 0-60 and you can disable stuff like depth of field and bloom to help with games performance. Only other game I can think of off the top of my head is Final Fantasy 14 on
the ps4. The devs are clearly able to give console users the options so I don't see why not.

OP - this drive by gamers to insist on 1080p 60fps makes me really angry.

I have posted before to highlight the fact that I have a very high spec PC - and I have played BF4 at 4K resolution (native, not upscaled) and with max graphics settings. It look NO DIFFERENT from the X1 version - which I have played on a 1080p TV, a 720p
    AND a 4K TV.

We should be driving developers to produce "realism" - which the drive towards 1080p affects negatively.

I agree 60 fps would be good as that does make a difference.

Also - I prefer the PC version because of the higher player count, after play 64 players it's difficult to enjoy the console's version.

  9. But surely as graphics get more intense, resolution and frame rate will be a tricky hold?

Off topic: @Rippen - Only in Conquest I believe. Team Deathmatch on X1 is only 20 or so players - which is pants after you play 64 on a PC.

Back on topic - until they get realism at lower res (i.e. 720p, or even less) - i.e. actually looks like a video film then they should not even bother pushing up the res. And that's why I'm angry about the 1080p debate - it has stopped developers from working
    on realism.
