WD my book 3TB external hard dive, need advise

I just bought one and when I plug it in instead of saying "we see you have external storage, let's set it up" like most YouTube videos I see. It says "detect a external media device", it prompted me to download it. Which took me to a bunch of folders with
nothing in them. Did I get the wrong thing? Should I just return it and get a sea gate instead? I always thought it didn't matter what you get as long it was a 3.0 and had over 250 gigs. Any help will be appreciated. One more thing, it's the same one which
that one you tuber mad skills got so you know the exact one I got, thanks.

Buying External Drive today...any recommendations?

I wanted a External HDD with it's own power supply, I went with a WD My Book 3TB drive, works perfect!

 

EXTERNAL HARDRIVE

This is the most recomended one to get. Any amount of storage is up to you though. I have the 4TB.

I got the WD my book 3TB drive and it said we see you have a external storage...and it asked me if I wanted to format the drive, etc. After that it was good to go. If you have it plugged into the side usb port of the xbox one, unplug it and plug it into
the back usb port of the xbox one.

 

I just try plugging it in the back, Still says external media storage ready

plug it into your computer and format it (try ntfs). Once done, unplug it and try it on the Xbox One again. May work.

I checked it out. I got the older 3TB my book drive and it works great. Not sure what else to tell you, sorry. Maybe trey the support forums. Might find something there.

 

Got any friends or family that have a computer you can borrow to format it? Formatting it will probably solve your problem. Could be the file system currently on it is the issue.

I tried what the article said, still says external media device ready. I'm just going to take it back and spend a extra 30 dollars and purchase the seagate
