  1. WD media drive

So today i spent all day moving all my media content to my new 10tb WD my book, the format is NTFS and on my laptop it works fine but when i put it on my xbox it comes up in media player and i go into it ans get “no files found” its USB 3 as well so it should
work fine but isnt.. i go into the storage settings and it says “0gb free of 9TB” to say im annoyed is an understatement as i paid £200 for the drive and its taken me all day to move all my stuff on it.

ive tried: restarting my xbox, changing usb ports and even a different cable and checked it on my laptop again and nothing works

please help?! Id like to avoid re formatting it as it took far too long to put everything on it in the first place... and it shows up in windows so it shouldnt be an issue with the drive.

    :)

    Hi Core,

You will be able to chose which you want it formatted for As Eladio mentioned. When you format, just make sure to select media.

    Thanks,

    Hey Core

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with using your media on your external hard disc drive [E-HDD]

When you first got your HDD, did you connect it to the console first? It would have asked you what how do you want to format this drive, either to hold games or media content, so as to correctly configure and partition it.

I would encourage you to perform a
    power cycle
on the console first and see if this helps the console detect the content. Here are the steps:

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.
Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

If you haven't already, I would first suggest that you
change the power mode of your console
, as being in different power mode other than
Instant-on could be the source of this drive not being detected.

This can be done by following these simple steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > Power & startup >
      Power mode & startup.
    3. Confirm that your Power mode is set to Instant-on.
    4. Unselect the option When Xbox is off, turn off storage.
    5. Restart your Xbox, and then go to Settings and select
      System
      > Storage and see if your device now appears in the list.

If this is still not working, then you might have to follow the advice Xbox Forums Ambassador

    {Parity}
    provided.

Give this a try and let us know if this works for you!

I know you don't want to format it but I think if it were mine I would format it again using the Console.
