WD Blue SSD 3D Nand not recognised

Just bought a WD Blue 500gb 3D NAND SSD and set it up ok on PC as NTFS in a single volume without an issue. However the XBOX ONE S does not recognise the drive when plugged in to the USB port on the back. I've been through all the troubleshooters and even
reset the console but the drive is still not being recognised.

I have tested the ports with a USB stick and they work fine.

The SSD drive works fine on the PC USB 3 port.

Anybody got an answer to this one?

Is the drive a USB 3.0 drive?

As in does not see the drive at all in order to format it to work or does not recognize and use the drive? The Xbox is going to want to format the drive for use the first time it connects. If it is not picking up the drive at all try a different USB
port.

Hi,

Just to make anyone aware who doesn't know, a typical WD Blue SSD isn't an standard external hard drive on its own. It's a SATA III SSD drive. To use this drive on an Xbox One you need a USB 3.0 enabled 2.5 hdd/SSD enclosure.

I've got a similar SSD in an external enclosure on my Xbox One, a Crucial MX 500 250GB SSD. Which was a drive I used to use as a boot drive on my PC.

Now we've got that out of the way, what drive enclosure are you using with this SSD? Is the drive enclosure USB 3.0?

i was going to try and get a different usb 3.0 cable if i can find one or a different external case. my coworker seems to think its either the cable or the ssd

ive tried in all 3 of the ports i get same issue.

its a sandisk ultra 3d nand.
