WD Black Storage Preventing my Xbox Series X from working?

I got a WD black external storage 5 tb card a while back for my xbox. I play a lot of older games that don't need optimization so this was a good choice for me. It worked perfectly for a long time, I'd say a year or 2. Just recently, my xbox stopped working. It happened when a dvd got put into the console and it stopped running. Thought it was because of that because of the timing, but when the 2 external devices, my storage and my 2 set of xbox batteries got unplugged, it worked just fine. More recently, I looked at it myself, and with the xbox and the external items plugged in, it doesn't turn on fully. It lights up, and on the TV it will start the xbox loading screen, freeze midway through, and go black, showing that the console was still on. When I unplugged the externals again, it turned on just fine, powered up like nothing happened. I assumed the storage was the issue, so in my games menu, I Plugged in the battery and it worked just fine, no issue, I was able to use the console like normal. Plugged in the storage next, and after a few seconds of working, it froze and went black again. The console never turned off persay, but nothing was displaying, the only thing on was the xbox symbol light. I don't know if it's because the wd black product is warn out or what, but I'd love some input on this if at all possible.
