    WD 4 TV external in read-only


    So after speaking with Xbox support specialists for just over two hours I thought we fixed the problem, turns out that was only wishful thinking.

    Working with the WD 4TB drive I am constantly turning on my Xbox to it saying I only have 150 GB of free space. I go into the setting and see My Book recognized and everything with 3.6 TB of space remaining, but my Xbox can't touch it. Anything installed
    goes right to my Xbox hard drive.

    All of this is going on even while I already have tons of fully downloaded games installed in my WD. This problem began earlier this year when I stopped getting the notification saying my book was ready.

    Now games take longer to load, I can't move any games from the hard drive, and the only way I have found to fix this is either reformatting the external, or going through a number of steps to hard reboot everything.

    Is there a step I am missing? I know I am not the only user going through this, so please tell me, where am I messing up?

    Watching movies with External Hard Disks

    I have two WD external 1tb hard disks with movies on them, can I hook them up to the xbox via usb and watch movies off them through the xbox to my tv?

    External hard drive rpm?

    I just hooked up a 3tb, 3.0usb WD my book external HD. now I'm concerned that the rpm speed isn't 7200rpm... is this a concern or will this external be fine for the Xbox one..?... read some stuff on load times.. any ideas out there.. thanks

    Where did you connect it

    If not.the port In the back that would be why

    The front ports are for controllers

    This is with any next gen console they reserve.the front for media or.controllers and back ports for storage

    Ive gotten the same thing with the WD P40 drive. I couldn't ever get it to show up to format. I know these drives work. It just will not allow me to format it. Ive connect to my laptop and formatted as exfat and ntfs and the same issue, shows up as media drive and no option to format.
