Ways of connecting any Headphones/Mic to a 360

Needless to say I am COMPLETELY fed up with the quality of gaming headsets. I've gone through two pairs of turtle beaches, and I am currently using a pair of Razer Carcharias which have nothing good going for them except them being the lightest headphones
I've ever used. Back on topic here, I've been looking around recently for a way to connect an actual pair of headphones/mic to my 360. Specifically a pair of Vmoda Crossfades with a boompro mic. I'm assuming there has to be some sort of adapter out there that
can do this. And if it helps, I have an original white 360 that was been trucking along for some years now.

TLDR: Sick of crappy headsets, want to use good Headphones/Mic with 360. How?

    :)

Mic on new controllers with 3.5mm built in Audio port

    Yes, both controllers fully updated.

Mic is at2020usb+, headphones are the apple earbuds, phone is the Nexus 5.

I'm using the audio out port on the mic and connecting that to the mic port of the splitter, and the headphones to the headphones port of the splitter, and the combo port to the controllers.

  3. PC headphones and mic audio and Xbox 360

So what I would REALLY like to do is have game audio and party chat audio come through my headphone speakers, then use the mic on my headphones as an Xbox mic to talk over a party with my friends. I have Xbox chat headphones with one earphone with chat audio,
and my PC headphones on top of that to hear game audio. The setup is very uncomfortable and I just want to use my PC headphones like I would a PC, but on the Xbox 360. If you have any answers that be great.

Your best bet is the Astro Mixamp Pro. But before you buy the Vmoda Crossfade, first consider your options.

There are far better cans to use for gaming such as the Sennheiser HD598's, HD558's, Philips Fidelio X1's, Sony MDR MA900's, Sennheiser G4ME ONE headset or Audio Technica ADG1 headset. If you want to get off cheap and offset the cost of the Mixamp, you could
also go with the very cheap Superlux HD668b's. Build quality is nothing to write home about but the audio quality is comparable to something that costs $200 to $400.

For a mic, you can go with the Antlion Modmic, Zalman ZM-Mic1 or in the case of the Fidelio X1's, the Vmoda boom pro.

The audio quality from the Crossfades are too V shaped and I don't really recommend them for gaming. Your best gaming headphones all use an open or semi open design for higher fidelity, better mids and nice soundstage and imaging for pinpoint accuracy .

You are right about these console gaming headsets though. They all suck. It's just funny to me how people actually think they sound good.

Now if you can tell me what kind of gaming you do, I can narrow things down for you. For instance, the Sennheiser HD598's completely shine for competitive gaming and are halfway decent for single player but if you want a good all rounder, I would recommend
the Philips Fidelio X1's or Sony MDR-MA900's I use the 598's though and absolutely love them.

Thanks for all the useful info! But the issue is I already have the vmodas & mic, had em for about a year now. But that's not going to stop me from looking into some alternatives. Oh and one more thing, do you (or anyone else for that matter) have any alternatives
for the mixamp? 130 is a bit steep for me right now.

Well that's fine then if you already have them and they will certainly be better then any console gaming headset. Buying a used first gen Turtle Beach DSS from Amazon is also a possibility (don't buy the DSS2) however I'm not familiar with how to set a mic
up since I've never used it. You might possibly only need that and a 4 pole Y adapter. Amazon sells a good one from Sennheiser for $15.

I would ask around in the gaming section of www.head-fi.org

If you can get it working with a mic, you are good to go for really cheap.

Once again thanks for the help. Grabbed the splitter off amazon, but I have a feeling that it's not going to work out. Probably just going to bite the bullet and grab a mixamp. But does anyone have any possibly cheaper alternatives or is the mixamp the way
    to go?

As far as I know, the Mixamp is the way to go. You might be able to find some kind of headphone amp and plug it into a USB dongle but a decent amp isn't cheap and the USB dongles are generally poor quality.

With the Mixamp, you will get 7.1 Dolby Headphone, EQ presets for competitive gaming, single player gaming and media. You also get the ability to mix chat volume vs game volume to your liking. The Mixamp also allows you to hook up an audio player or smart
phone in case you don't want to rip audio to your console or stream from your PC. This also gives you the ability to use higher quality audio since the 360 streams and rips everything to 192 Kbps WMA.
