The rumors of an upgraded xbox console have been circulating for a while. While I know not everyone researches a product b4 they buy it, this one was on the wall. Besides, your xbox will be just as effective as the S or even Scorpio as far as I know. The
only difference you could possibly notice is if you have 4k capable TV. Even if you do, there was no lie, just an upgrade. Sorta like buying a car. Buy a standard model and it will still get you from A to B the same as a premium model. (I.e. Plays the same
games). Difference is a few bells and whistles. ITS NOT A NEW XBOX!!! But research really is the key, especially when buying electronics. BTW, your moving to a ps 4.5 would make no difference. The SAME concept. GLHF...

 

This is why I hate the modern so called gamers which are more modern day consumers, lack the value of game content for pretty graphics.

I still want 'The very best GPX/FPS' but after playing 2009 release on the X1, I thought. 'This game looks like garbage.' But after playing it for a while, I went out and bought 2 GOTY editions.

If they can make games this good, then IMO. They can skip a good deal on the eye candy.

 

I bought a new Elite about two months ago and I'm not bothered by the news. But then I don't expect all my purchases to be future proofed.

 

Ok so you may have preferred to get a xbox one s after seeing the unveil, it plays the same games as the regular xbox one though and isnt anymore powerful, so gaming wise it wont really make a difference, i get that 4k playback & streaming would be nice.
Slim consoles are quite common these days and you should have really expected this to happen sooner or later. My advice for future would be if its nearly E3 and your considering buying a new console it would be better to wait untill after the conference, even
more so with the amount of new console rumours that were out there

 

Well I have heard the new XB1 s will have more GPU, so games would run better than the older models, but not enough to make me want it. Might consider the Scorpio depending on the price and if I have the money.

 

MS are a mess this gen. They skip from one disaster to another. Three consoles in one gen is unheard of and only over complicates things. Phil Spencer coming out having to explain there's no point in getting the Scorpio if you don't own a 4K TV makes
no sense either. I mean, no Xbox one is going to achieve a consistent 1080/60, whereas I'd expect the Scorpio to do so. Obviously won't get the full benefit, but there will be a benefit never the less.

MS have looked like amateurs for the last 3 years when dealing with the Xbox brand and having 3 different consoles out at once backs this up. Both the PS4 and X1 were underwhelming and the only saving grace for Sony is they just need to mix things up twice,
so they don't look as incompetent as MS currently do.

It's actually quite baffling that a large corporation such as MS are struggling so badly at promoting their Xbox brand. Between MS and Nintendo, it's currently a toss up to see who can destroy their brands the quickest. Only MS could reveal a badly needed
upgraded X1 [Slim], then make it sound obsolete within the space of 5 mins before it's even been released (the reason phil spencer had to clarify further about the 4K TV requirement for the Scorpio).

Bawbag- MS released well over 3 iterations of the Xbox 360. Most were slight internal modifications (Falcon, Jasper, etc), but the slim and "slim e" had significant design changes. Sony also released a few versions of the PS3.

 

^^ That's assuming the S is a different console which it is not. How many different skus did the 360 go through as well as the PS3? The 360 had the original and then the better Elite and then there was the Arcade with an hdmi and what about the S console
and then the even smaller E console? I have 2 totally different looking PS3 consoles at the moment.

We have the One and then about 4 years later we will have a new console. A better console. The Scorpio or whatever they call it. It's not all doom and gloom like the picture you are painting.

Phil said that it is pointless to get a scorpio if you don't have a 4k tv as pr to get people to continue buying their two weaker consoles even though the x1 slim will in the end be the replacement to the original x1 in stores.

 

It is 3 different consoles. The slim has went through a huge redesign and upgrade compared to the launch 360 and the ones that came after. If they were the same consoles, I'd be able to watch 4k content on my current console via an update and some sort
of accessory, whether it be 3rd party or an official. The slim is the console we should have been given at the outset because what we got has very quickly become underwhelming.

 

As for we will have a new console. If what MS charge for an extra measly 500GB extra storage is anything to go by, I get the feeling the Scorpio is going to become a niche product due to the pricing. I genuinely hope I'm proven wrong, but I can't see the
Scorpio coming in any less than around £700 here in the UK. Hell, they tried to charge us around £500 for the X1 when it first came out, so £700 is probably still being conservative.

 

I don't think there is any way they price it higher than €500. Look what happened with the PS3 when they did it. It struggled out of the gate.

 

Meh. Nobody lied to me. Cleared it with the wife. I'm all good to buy the Scorpio! Winner.

 

I think they will be making the right move with Scorpio, but with what devs can potientally do with games, it'll likely take a tanker sized hdd (figure of speech) to dl and store a good number of locally.

So I am wondering how many TB the base unit will have? X1-S will still be able to External USB hdd's correct?
