Watching TV Through Xbox One – Random Freezing?

Sorry for the delay, I actually have it the X1 in instant on mode.

 

no problem....I bet if you put it in energy saving mode it will stop....it did for me, but obviously defeats the purpose of all the nice features of instant on. It needs to be addressed ASAP!

 

Same issue. Cold reboot of box fixes it and same issue after couple of days. Xbox FIX this!!!!

 

I'm having the same issues. Seems to be more prevalent when changing between HD and SD channels on my foxtel IQ2 HD set top box, also when exiting a game straight into TV mode. For a console sold on TV, TV and more TV. This is very disappointing. It's been
months with no movement on this at all.

While we're at it, can we do something about allowing DLNA and 3d blu ray support already. This console was supposed to be all we needed for our media consumption.

 

I'm fed up with this. I am about to pull the HDMI cable out of the XBOX One, and just use the input selector from my surround sound system like I used to do. It's such a hassle to have to completely power down the XBOX One if I want to play my 360, or PS3,
or PS4. If I switch inputs on the surround sound system the XBOX starts the freezing thing if it's not powered down. Then if I want to watch TV on my big screen I have to turn the XBOX back on. They should have given us MORE HDMI inputs on the machine because
many people have more than just a cable box and an XBOX One. It's a very nice feature, but when it doesn't work, it's basically worthless. Another thing I've noticed is when I watch "on demand" content from my cable provider, the XBOX stays stuck on one screen
until the content starts playing. Fortunately I have a 26" TV that I have cable plugged into as well so I can see the menus that I can't see from the XBOX-if that makes sense

 

This issue is with the XB1. I have walked through everything with Microsoft and they said to send in my XB1. There is nothing they will do and I will just be without the box for a month. I'm really *** that I had the issues with the 360 and now the XB1.
Why would you sale something that's meant to take over everything and it doesn't work after a couple weeks.

 

I bought the XBox One in December, and it had been working with my HD Time Warner cable just fine until a couple of weeks ago, and now it does this exact same thing. Random Freezing every few minutes. I have a motorola HD cable box with HDMI cables hooked
up (cable >xbox one>tv) when I remove the xbox one, everything works fine.

Streaming still works fine (Netflix/Hulu) it has to be an issue with an update to firmware or something.

 

Not sure if this is related, but TV started to randomly freeze for me since the last update. Sometimes it will just give a black screen and do nothing. Sometimes if my Dish DVR is on pause and on the screen for 15 or so minutes, it will go black and eventually
kick me to the TV app logo on the home screen. If I go back into it, the screen is still black. sometimes hitting play will load the video after 5 - 10 seconds, i've had to power off and back on again to get working again a few times.

 

Had same problems (lag when changing channels, freezing, On-denand lag, resolution changing constantly.) You name it, I experienced it these past 2 weeks. Was planning on switching cable box from comcast, but quickly found a solution(s).

First, I changed the HDMI cord. I was using the stock xb1 HDMI in the passthru (I have 2 of the stock ones). I switched to a comcast supplied HDMI. I also unplugged the cable box from outlet, and put into the SAME outlet that my XB1 power cord is using.
I originally had the cable box power cord running to a different electrical outlet. Not sure which solved the problem, but try both. Ive been problem free for 24 hours straight! (Knocks on wood)

 

I had the same issue. I contacted XBoxOne support and they asked me to Fully power down the console - like take out the cable from the wall socket and the other end from the console. Plug out the tv cable as well and wait for 30 seconds and plug them all
back in. This seems to have resolved the pauses for me.

 

^^^^ This is the fix! I woke up this morning to have no sound for my TV and every 5-10 seconds it would freeze. I reset the box and nothing. I read this fix above and unplugged my xbox 1 from the wall and disconnected the HDMI cords from the tv and box,
waited a couple minutes and plugged everything back and its working fine now.

I dont know what causes it but i turned off my tv last night instead of the xbox so it was on all night and not sure if that plays a part. I know its on a standby type mode even when its off but we will see if it happens again.
