  4. Watching TV Through Xbox One – Random Freezing?

I have now unplugged my xbox one from my cable box (at&t uverse) and I still have no sound. I have done everything I can think of. I have reset base volume, reset cable box and more. My xbox one still has perfect audio so I know my tv is not broken. Help
    would be greatly appreciated!

I bought an XBOX ONE on launch day and had been watching TV without any issues. Then I started getting the freezing/blackscreen thing. I called Microsoft and went through every trouble shooting thing they threw at me. After spending a bunch of time on the
phone they sent me out a new X1. The new box did the same thing. Freezing/blackscreen. I called Microsoft again and they said the problem might be with my Set Top Box and an update that has recently been rolled out. I live in Canada and my TV is Bell Fibe.
My STB is the Motorola VIP1232. The problem I think started when Bell pushed out an update (client version 2.4.28886.1003). I don't know if its up to Microsoft to update or if im stuck with an incompatible Set Top Box. I would love to hear if anyone has the
same provider and set top box who is watching TV without problems.

Same problem here. This is very annoying, makes TV watching unbearable. Going to speak to MSFT about this first thing Monday.

Watching TV Through Xbox One – Random Freezing?

hey guys....I went through everything with MS a few weeks ago..and switching HDMi cables helped as well as setting XB1 output to 720P....after everything though, I switched it back to 1080P and it ran the same (which means in my case, it didn't matter) though
I still had freeze ups sometimes when I started TV after playing a game..or when switching from a DVR recorded show to live TV (scientific atlanta 8300HD)...

But you know what finally solved it?......not leaving a game disc loaded in the machine. When I am done playing, I take the disc out..and the difference in performance has been unreal. NO freezes, stuttering, instant TV playback and a TV pic that is awesome...and
just to test it after 3 days of smooth running, I loaded the disc back in and got the freeze ups again...

Definitely an issue with the XB1. I'm having the same issues as all the posters (constant freezing/stuttering) if I plug my cable box into my XB1 and use the TV app. If I connect my cable box directly to the TV, it runs fine.

  10. This should be an easy fix, Microsoft. What's the problem with fixing this in a system update?

my thoughts exactly! This is a feature that was highly advertised, but I can't use it the way it was intended. If I don't fully power down my XBOX One, OR if I switch inputs on my surround sound system to use my PS3, PS4 or XBOX 360 it freezes and or says
HDMI is not connected. I have to power down the One to switch inputs which is ridiculous! I sprung for a Day One console, and I have been extremely patient, so it would be nice to have some attention paid to this issue, of which I have seen ZERO.

I've found a workaround for passthrough with pc. Disable tv for audio and use pc speakers. No freezing and lost connection messages as long as I wake the pc on lockscreen.

Clearly an serious issue with how the Xbone interprets hdmi audio from pc. Something is causing this freezing and it boggles my mind on how they have not fixed this yet.

I still would like to use my tv audio Microsoft. Please get your stuff together.

Watching TV Through Xbox One – Random Freezing?

I've had a very similar problem. I am using ATT Uverse and all of the channels work great. If I try to watch a channel below 100 it almost completely locks up. I get about 1 frame every 20 - 30 seconds. The problem seems to go away if I change the audio
output on my cable box from surround sound to stereo.

Stereo out from my cable box works on all stations. I only get the issue if I have audio out on the cable box set to surround. I called Xbox support and this was their solution. I'm not really cool with that. But since it only affects the channels below
100, it's not a HUGE deal. I don't really watch those channels. I watch the HD equivalent.

If I connect the cable box directly to the TV bypassing the xbox, then all channels work great regardless of the audio output on the cable box. Definitely an Xbox issue.

I hope that helps for a temporary work around until MS can get is straight.

I have had my system since Day 1, over these last 4 and a half months, there has been TV related issues that the power cycle seems to fix. I just experienced the pic freeze issue yesterday. I called my provider, (Charter) and they set up a trouble call without
trying much more than sending a single to the cable box. After hooking up the cable straight to the TV and it working fine, I unplugged X1 and now the issue is fixed. It was the first time I had pic freeze, in the past it was X1 can't find a TV signal. Although
annoying, at least the power cycle does seem to fix most issues.

I'm just curious if you (Slayer Fan & Kermit) have your XBOX One set up in energy saving mode, or instant on?

The only thing that works for me is keeping it in energy saver mode which really sucks. I have a day one console as well although I've never had issues with different channels, just the freezing, and it acting like there is no HDMI cable plugged in.
