Watch Out For Message From Cloudstrife 900

So I got a message from Cloudstrife 900 saying that Microsoft's security has been breached and that there's a link you can go to and see if your details are there.

I strongly advise AGAINST clicking this link.

Cloudstrife 900 is a great guy but the message may not have been from him and may be an attempt to PHISH your details by a 3rd party.

Any official information about Microsoft Security will come from Microsoft.

I'm down for a digital rental service good idea CloudStrife 900.

 

It's a pastebin of all the compromised email addresses - I stake my house that Cloud hasn't been hacked and he is just trying to help people.

I went to the url (typed it rather than clicking it) and can verify that it is all just a text dump of the data. If there had been anything dodgy about it I can guarantee that my various security software would have alerted me. I work as a fraud as security
analyst so I had no hesitation testing it out.

Luckily none of my emails are on there so I'm OK at least

 

No official word on the Forums.

No official word from Microsoft.

No official articles in the press about this.

Maybe it's safe also means maybe it's not.

Best advice until we get some official confirmation is to avoid it.

I will point out that there is no official word to back up its authenticity but again, I would rather not regret it down the lines if it did turn out to be true.

It made a few people suspicious but fortunately most knew it was me. I do have one dude accusing me of being a black hat, what ever the hell that is lol

It was never on BBC.

It just wasn't true.

But for those of you who would like it to be, please remember that the guys who did this say themselves that the list of emails they posted is just a "snapshot" of data and not the complete list.

Therefore checking the list, not finding your email there and then concluding that your details must therefore be safe would be an act of alarming stupidity.

It may have been a hoax but when it comes to your account details you can't be too careful though and this will have been a useful prompt to many to consider updating their password details.
