if i get watch dogs early can i play it. Iike what if i got the game today could i play or am i not allowed.

Anyone manage to Get Watch Dogs Yet

it would be nice to have the 3 day weekend to play Watch Dogs. and i don't think anyone was banned for getting Tomb Raider early.

 

If it is a legit copy, you can play it. It would be the fault of the retailer for allowing you to purchase the game.

This is my understanding of how it all works.

 

Technically, if you're playing any game before its release date, your account and console could be subject to suspension, even if it was the retailer's fault.

I understand, as I'm looking forward to this game too, but it's better to be patient than run the risk. Hang in there!

 

I got my copy today and saw a few posts saying you could potentially get into trouble by playing it early.

I tweeted @UbisoftSupport asking them if people were safe to play if we received copies early, the reply I got said,



"UbisoftSupport @ Loftywho, Yes, you are ok to play the game, thanks [G]"

Now I'm not saying to anyone, "Go play it" but for anyone on Twitter, add me, look at my tweet that was sent this morning and read the reply.

 

Tbh, if I was lucky enough to get it early, I wouldn't think twice about playing it.

Well after the reply I had from the Official UbisoftSupport I have started playing and would of even without it.

I think for people that play it, start posting loads of spoilers about it, then yeah, maybe there could be issues for them.

I'm not posting any spoilers, well unless me saying its "One Incredible Game" is a spoiler, then so be it lol

 

I'm pretty sure saying "One Incredible Game" is EXACTLY the kind of spoiler that Ubisoft will be delighted to see posted in as many places as possible

Honestly, with Ubisoft's post about it being okay, that brings less of a worry. I have just heard some pretty harsh stories about day-one embargoes being broken, and it resulting in consequences for both the retailers and the gamers involved. Usually the
company goes after the retailer for breaking their contract, and the company respective to the platform on which the game is being played can go so far as to suspend user accounts and even ban console MAC addresses from ever joining again.

This brings up a very interesting legal issue - MS has very clear rules about playing games early, and there are the legal contractual questions about stores breaking embargoes by selling/shipping early. So, it begs the question, could there ever be a time
when a developer says, "Ah, no big deal, go ahead and play," but then the console company turns around and says, "Uh-uh, violation of ToS. Banhammer."

Doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility....

 

@Lofty. I don't think they have any intention of banning people for playing early, they would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they banned people who would potentially spend more money on the game through dlc.
