Was working fine till...

I got an Asus (RT-AC68U) AC1900 Dual-Band Gigabit Router. I thought it would help my NAT go to open. I set it up, forwarded ports, set up a static IP, and it started to work. It said Open, Finally!!! I was talking and playing games with my friends easier
than ever before I left. When I came back a week later, I connected to wi-fi on my phone and suddenly, everything stopped working. I went on my Xbox and it said it was on strict again and that nothing was loading up. All my internet was out. I switched back
to my old router and after a week, it shut down too. Now I officially have no internet or wi-fi at my house and I am wondering what could've possibly happened. I had a wired connection. If you can give some advice, that'd be a great help, thanks! P.S it wont
let me test my connections. just so you know.

So am I getting this right that both your routers died? Or is it just that your connection of the Xbox died? Or better said went strict again? If it's "only" the latter you may please perform a factory reset on your Xbox, as this is the only solution to
get a formerly open and now strict NAT back to open.

If it's the first and both routers are dead now, it may be bad luck or a problem with your provider or the modem.

 

does no one read the post entirely? Dubstep, call your service provider. check your modems connection with a direct connection to it via Ethernet cable and a computer. run all the test they ask you too. IF the modem checks out, call the makers of one of
the routers and have them troubleshoot the issue with it not receiving a signal from the modem. Once BOTH the modem and the router check out CALL xbox support 18004MYXBOX.

 

The Problem with some ASUS routers are (I had one myself). Day 1 my NAT is open. Day 2 it's strict.

You have to restart the Router then your NAT will be open again. It's a router Problem I think.

maybe you can try to run the ASUS Merln build. Google it. He is active on smallnetbuilder Forums and there you can get the best Informations.

Do you have the same router as OP? if not post your model number here please for my personal benefit. If this is indeed a firmware issue itll need to have the rangers look into it
