Was in preview, disc drive "whirs" (not grinding) but doesn't recognize discs

When I enter a disc into the drive it makes a "whirring" sound for 2-3 seconds as it loads the disc (Game or dvd), but it never recognizes the disc.

Eveyrthing was working fine up until 3-4 weeks ago and it stopped working. I've tried power cycling, uninstalling the bluray app, etc, nothing works.

Does anyone know when the next official patch is due and if it might fix this issue? I'd hate to have to mail it back in if it was just a software issue.

[/quote]Disc drives not reading disc is a symptom of a faulty disc drive. No system update is ever going to fix that.

 

System won't attempt to ingest disc

Is anyone one having this issue? My xbox one won't even attempt to ingest the disc. I've seen videos of the "common" issue where it sucks it in, then whirs a bit, then doesn't work, but mine won't take the disc in at all. That piece of functionality that
sucks the disc in is just not working. I tried to push it all they way in manually and ended up having to get a needle noise pliers to get the game out.

Does this happen with any disc at all? What are some of the titles you've tried, for both game and DVD?

 

Indeed, but if the preview update breaks the console, then there is a big problem with the internal testing!

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed response. I actually opted out, thinking the next "full" patch would help fix it, but it did not and I have no way of posting or update in the beta forums now.

 

@Tootie SAME EXACT SITUATION AS ME. I used to be a part of the preview updates (my Xbox worked perfectly beforehand), but now every initial disc insert has the disc drive taking in the disc, spin the disc, but doesn't recognize that its there so the dashboard
still says "insert disc". When I press eject, the disc drive ejects it, but then pulls back in the disc, actually reads the disc (you hear the drive actually read it, not just whir) and reads it properly. Subsequent disc inserts work properly.

I know of another one having the exact issue as us, that's why I think this is a software issue. Let's hope for a patch in June!

@Misses Joust: Indeed, u are correct! But even software we test, is not supposed to brick a console, cause it's easier for the staff to receive a new X1, than we switching ours.

So internal testing needs to test the software if he can brick our consoles, we search for the bugs in the system
