I welcome that! If I have to pay EA 30$/year, Ubisoft 30$/year and Activision 30$/year, that's a total of 90$/year. That comes out to the price of 1.5 games for a HUGE library of games, it's definitely worth it. If I find that one of the publisher has
crappy games or that I've played them all, I just won't renew that one. It's obvious that Sony just wants to promote their own service and that's why they're not offering. I guess only time which service is better....

@Sigma....it does matter, because people like you think it's Sony and it isn't. And I did say the price point sucks, and 99% of everyone in the Beta thinks the same thing.

@mgzin Ok publishers set the price point. Fine you win. It still doesnt excuse Sony for telling its gamers that EA Access isnt a good value, when their own streaming service is a worse value.

 

The only downside i can see to this, is their digital First Day sales.

Look at it this way. If you know you are in the EA/MS scheme, and that a certain game is going to be on the "Rent" List, say within 6 months to a year. What are you going to do?

Buy the game at launch on Digital, and theoretically have 2 copies.

or

Buy the game on disc, and when it becomes available on the EA/MS Program, sell the disc and get your subscription money back easy.

EA, technically, could well be shooting themselves in the foot with this, as many, many people will sign up to this subscription based game scheme, and not purchase the game at launch, knowing that the game will be on the list at some point in time, and
knowing EA lack of releasing a non-buggy game at release, will wait, losing them quite a bit of money in the process.

 

Imagine this list... on the XB1 for $30/yr... $2.50/mnth or $.08 cents a day

Sony per hour is $1.2475. Round the next penny.It 1.25 a hour. That if you pick 4 hour rental. EA it a penny a hour in it cheapest offer

 

I believe EA is begining a new assualt on gamestop (used disc sellers) with this program. They are trying to siphon off some gamers that have been in a cycle of buying the newest Madden/FIFA/etc and trading it in to get credit towards the next years iteration.
I am guessing they are not really targeting the "die-hard" sports gamer with this, as those types are not patient enough to wait. This is likely aimed at the mid-level to casual EA purchasers.

 

EA is just trying to get there piece of the used games pie. I don't blame them. They will make money on this, BUT don't expect any new games (and I dont mean 2014 sports games) to be available when they are released.

Like HairyLoveSpuds said. What if people stop buying EA games on release and just wait for them to go in the vault? EA will not like that. They are banking on people not only buying the new retail games but paying the sub fee on top of that.

Like I said, it doesn't matter whose fault it is. When I make a value judgement, I look at how much something costs and what I get in return. I don't think "well, that's expensive, but it's not Sony's fault so that's OK". I just think "that's expensive".

Also, the pricing for Sony's own games is the same, so what excuse would you use there? Hmmm.....

 

EA Access kicks PS Now right where it hurts. It's makes Sony's pricing an embarrassment. Damage control is already in full swing as Sony immediately came out and criticised it, claiming "it doesn't represent good value for the PlayStation gamer."

The reason Sony turned it down is because it conflicts directly with their own PS Now, which they desperately need to succeed. EA Access is a nail in the PS Now coffin with regards to future customers and users. When Ms said they were "in it to win it."
