Warning: Prepaid card users, do not seek Xbox Music refund!

Those who purchased Xbox Music with prepaid cards should not seek a refund or credit for the unused portion of the service. I did, and I regret it. Many months ago, I had purchased 12 months of Xbox Music with four prepaid cards, which was stacked onto a
previous subscription. The added cards extended my subscription to November 2016. However, with the introduction of Apple Music, I've been using that as a primary music source, using Xbox Music rarely, so I thought I would inquire about a refund for the unused
portion of it. I called customer support, a nice lady, who indicated she couldn't offer a cash refund for the remaining 10 months, but could give me a token for a year of Xbox Live. (actually lower cash value than Xbox Music, but better than nothing.) I said
go ahead, and she canceled the subscription and then tried to process the "refund." Then, the story changed. She looked at my account again, which now showed the Xbox Music music had been set to expire in December 2015. I tried to explain that it was an error,
that the computer was merely reading the expiration of the prepaid card that was then in effect, but she wouldn't listen to me. She assumed her and I had misread an Xbox Live Gold expiration as the Xbox Music subscription. As a result, she said, she could
not offer the year of Xbox Live. Exasperated, I asked her to reinstate the Xbox Music subscription as it was before (I still watch it occasionally for videos), and she said she was not able to do that. She offered me two months of Xbox Live Gold for what she
erroneously thought was the unused portion of Xbox Music. I turned that down.

Long story short. I succeeded in canceling 10 months of Xbox Music and received nothing in return. This is apparently because there is a glitch in Microsoft accounting in how they record prepaid card usage .

I'm not expecting any followup on this thread. Just posting to offer friendly advise to fellow Xbox Music users!

It will be put back onto your account balance, not onto the prepaid card. The money that you paid with your debit card will be returned to your bank account.

Hi Everyone, need some help please..

I bought fifa 19 the £81 edition. I paid some on my card and some off of a prepaid card (voucher redeem).

I canceled my order because my account apparently didnt have any devices linked so I was going to buy on my xbox instead.

I know I'll get my money refunded on my debit card, but will I get my Pre-Paid voucher back? if not what can I do please?

Yes, agreed. I have a similar situation...there is a glitch in accounting in how they record prepaid card usage. It only seems to have take the last subscription and not future.

Working with Xbox music also to ensure that I don't loose approx. 1 year of prepaid music stream. They have escalated and will call me back.

 

Good luck with that escalation. For me, I've decided it's not wort the hassle, since I'm a lot happier using Apple Music.
