War Thunder 'installation stopped'?

My son has been making progress on War Thunder for the last 3 years and doesn't want to lose this progress. A month ago he tried to install an update on his XBox One - it is saying 'Installation stopped' and he can no longer play on the game at all. How can I get my son playing again on War Thunder without losing his progress? Advice appreciated.

   Don't worry, he won't lose his progress. Once it gets fixed, he can continue where he left off. Please cancel the installation first and perform a power cycle by following these steps:
   Turn off the Xbox by pressing the Xbox button on the front part of the console for 10 seconds or wait until it shuts down.
   Then unplug the console's power cable, and wait for full three minutes. After that, plug the console power cable back in directly into the wall.
   Turn it back on and try installing the game again.

7. I uninstalled War Thunder and followed your steps. When I tried to install the game again it says 'Sorry, we cannot launch this The item you are trying to use appears to be corrupt. Try uninstalling it then reinstalling. (0x80070570)'

   That's strange. For this, we'll need to perform a factory reset on the console in attempt to fix the problem. Before doing proceeding with the factory reset, please make sure that you remember your email and password.
   
   Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
   Select Reset console.
   On the Reset your console screen, please choose "RESET AND KEEP MY GAMES & APPS". This option is being used as the primary choice when troubleshooting. It will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.
   
   Important note: Please make sure that you have connected to the internet prior to factory resetting for your game saves to sync to the cloud.

    I'm very sorry about that. Can we try to remotely install it? Firstly, please install the Xbox app on your phone if you don't have it.
    
    Then on your Xbox, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide and go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.
    Check the box to enable remote features.
    For the power mode, select Instant-on.
    
    On Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
    Select Name. Enter a name using only letters, numbers, and hyphens.
    Select Restart now.
    
    After that, please open the Xbox app on your phone then search for the game or choose it on the app’s Home screen. Select Download to console, then choose the console you’ve enabled.

    To check it, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage. Choose a default install location. Select the internal drive then press Install here by default to make this drive your default install location for games and apps.
    
    After that, try installing the game again.
