I saw your live chat request for this issue, however I was unfortunately in a chat with another customer so was unable to answer I'm afraid.

Could you please turn your Xbox One console on, then hold your finger on the power button for 15 seconds.

Once it shuts down completely, unplug all the cables from the back of the console, wait 5 minutes, then reconnect them all and boot it back up.

Let me know if you still face issues after that.

I got the glossy 360 slim when it first came out and left a microfiber cloth on top of the console completly blocking the vent then fell asleep on the couch and ended up turning it on with my but.

That console lasted 6 months.

my wife did that once, the Xbox just shut itself off while i was in the middle of a game, removed the game case that was blocking the vent, waited 10 minutes (actually i was outside and wasn't paying attention to how long it was, but not long) and it turned
right back on and cooled off pretty fast. that was about 4 months ago, haven't had any issues since.

The Console would have shutoff Full stop if theremals got close to What the soc (or other part of the board) is rated for.

Most consumer electornics including xbox one have failsafes to protect the consumer's investment.

My bigger then average size cat jumps on to my PS4 constantly, She can't get to the XB1,,,,,,,,,, yet, those vents on top are a great heat source
