Wanting Gamertag: Mugi

Hi

Just talked to one of your colleague on the support chat and she told me to write a post here so that an Ambassador will read.

I wanted the gamertag “Mugi” but it is not available. But I search for “Mugi” on players and nobody comes up so she thinks it is an inactive name.

I hope someone can free up this gamertag and please let me know when it becomes available. She also said she will talk with the higher team to sort out if someone can free it.

wanting to change gamertag

Im trying to change my gamertag when i put in the gamertag i want which is TheDuck it tells me that its already taken when i send a friend request to that gt it shows theduck and theres nothing on it no friends , gamerscore , rep, or played games. i was
wondering if there was anything i could do to get the gt i want. any help would be app. thank you

You should add another word before or after "The Duck" if you want it that bad

If the system says the tag is taken, then it's in use somewhere on Microsoft's server. There is no way to request a tag to be freed up. The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services so even if it's not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use somewhere
else. The system also doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So even though you may be searching for "Mugi" the tag is in use as "mu gi".

You also have to keep in mind that with the gamertags Spaces and capitalization does is all the same. For example with the gamertag in your example.

Mugi is the one that you want but according to MS

These would be the same as the one that you are looking for:

MUGI

mUgi

m u g i

muGi

M U G I

When you do a search for the gamertag in order for it to find it when you search for a gamertag for it to come up for you, you would have to type it in exactly as how it was typed in (with spaces, Capitalization) so in your example it could be 1000s of possibilities.

plus to add they use the game tag system on windows live PC games and zune so it can still be in use there. Also the system does not know the difference between spaces or caps and Dave McFly 85 are all the same tag.

Because someone else is using it.

The system doesn't recognise spaces or capital letters so Gamertag would be the same as gamer tag & so on.

If it says it's unavailable then there's nothing you can do to get that tag.

Gamertags are also used on other services,not just xbox live.

If a gamertag is not used for 5 years then it's released so it's just a case of waiting to see if it ever gets released.
