Want to remove xbox live account from Microsoft account.

When you change your Gamer Tag and go to play a 360 game on the Xbox One it will do exactly what you're running into.

Remove your profile from the Xbox One, Hard Reset the Xbox One and then add your profile back to the console

Go to Settings > Account > Remove Accounts > remove your account

Hold down the power button on the front of the console for 15 seconds and let it go and then restart it

Then add your profile again and try your 360 game again

To remove users Sign in to the account that your removing the accounts on. Then go to Settings > Account > Remove accounts. Confirm that you want to remove it. Done!

Please know that your are not deleting your Xbox or Microsoft Account this is just removing the account from the Xbox. If you want to delete a Xbox Account let me know!

Its really easy to remove it, You can remove a payment option from your Xbox Live account on Xbox.com. Here's how.

On a PC, go to My Account at Xbox.com. Sign in with your Microsoft account if necessary.

Note If you don't know your Microsoft account credentials, see Find your Microsoft account.

Select Payment & billing, and then select Remove payment option.

Next to the payment option that you want to delete, select Remove.

Click Yes to confirm the removal.

Done!

I don't have an answer to this thread but wanted to voice my displeasure with the whole situation as well. This "lovely" gamertag you see in my profile was automatically created when I logged in to XBL from my Windows Phone. I had assumed I would possibly
be prompted for different account information or something of the like but not so. What I simply want to do is:

1) Remove the gamertag associated with the e-mail account used on my Windows Phone

2) Change the e-mail address on the XBL account I actually use to that of the one used on my Windows Phone - I cannot do this until somebody, somewhere can make "Step 1" happen.

3) Once step 1 and 2 happen I can have a unified XBL experience across devices, which is the whole point MS was going for

You could argue that I can simply factory reset my phone (oh yes you MUST do that to change the Windows Account associated with it) and simply use the account on my phone with the XBL profile I want. The problem there is that I have about 5 Windows 8 devices
using the Windows Account that now sport the bum gamertag. Since these are a mix of work and personal devices I have to err on the side of caution and not go monkeying around with that.

Microsoft, why is it not an option to remove a gamertag associated with an e-mail address? I understand there are security concerns but I now have what amounts to both an orphaned XBL account and an orphaned Windows Phone when it comes to gaming and having
that unified XBL experience. Surely this is something that can be performed on a case-by-case basis if proper ID, etc can be presented.

Is anybody reading this? Can a supervisor reach out and help? I've been plopping good money down faithfully for XBL Gold since 2007 and just spent more money this weekend on a Lumia Icon. And I'm a SHAREHOLDER! Throw me a bone here!
