    Want to play multiplayer locally


    I've searched and can't find the answer. Everything I've found talks about offline but still needs the internet, which is fine. Basically I want my kids to be able to play Halo 2 together split screen in multiplayer in our living room. However, when I try campaign multiplayer it says I need an xbox live account but I don't understand why. I want them to play each other, I have not desire to ever have them play live with other players.

    I have the same issue with every multiplayer mode game I want to play. Is it not possible to play multiplayer games with xbox one without having xbox live? I can't see why I need to pay for an xbox live subscription to play multiplayer if we want to use the same xbox.

    Thanks! This is driving me crazy.

    Even if I don't want to play anyone on line? Can you have an xbox live account without paying anything? It doesn't make sense that I have to pay to have my children use multiplayer on our console together with them each using a controller.

    Hello there!

    In order to play online with other players or use multiplayer gaming on Xbox, it is required to get Xbox live. Otherwise, you will not have the option to use multiplayer.

    You can actually own an account for each child and play split screens, but multiplayer is the one that requires a purchase of Xbox live gold.

    each child will need a profile and xbox live account for themselves, then they can both play split screen with each other on games that support split screen, gold is not required for that.

    On the back side of the box look for local multiplayer or local coop. If you want to play online with a friend Look for multiplayer or online coop. Coop is the mode you need to play the story together. Multiplayer is for things like team deathmatch and
