  2. Want to create and transfer a local Xbox account to a Xbox live account

My child has been playing xbox360 for years with a local account (non-xbox live). Want to create and transfer a local Xbox account to a Xbox live account. I first created a Microsoft (child) account on the web. Then on the console, I signed-in as him and
tried to create a Xbox live profile. The console stated I needed to create the Xbox live account on the Xbox.com. (I think this has something to do with the parental control. I have two step authentication). I was successful in creating the gametag
(profile) for my child's account. So now my child has a Microsoft account with a Xbox live profile (all created on Xbox.com). Then I went back to the console, I signed-in as him (still a local account) and tried to add Xbox live to my child's local account.
It gives you two choices. Create an account or sign-in. When I "create an account" and put in my child's Xbox Live account info, the console stated that the profile is already taken. I was hoping that the console would just add or transfer his local account
into the Xbox live account. However it would not. When I tried the other option (just Signing-in), it would not allow me to choose my child's (local account) since it was not a Xbox live account. I would hate to not be able to add a Xbox Live account to my
child's current local account and loose all of the progress he has made over the years.

  3. Problem converting Xbox 360 local profile to Xbox Live as a child's account

I have been reading through the forums and Google searches trying to figure out how to get my child's local Xbox 360 profile converted to an Xbox Live gamertag. From what I have been able to figure out, in order to create an Xbox Live account, you must
have a Microsoft account. I have a Microsoft account and created one for my child and authorized it via my parental Microsoft account, and paid the mandatory $.50 credit card charge for the child account authorization. The newly created child Microsoft account
is not set up for Xbox Live and does not have a gamertag associated to it. From there, we have logged into the local child's profile on the Xbox 360 and selected the "Join the fun" link in an attempt to convert the local Xbox 360 profile into an Xbox Live
gamertag. I step through the process, enter in my child's e-mail account for their Microsoft account, then the password and then get the following error:

    Needs Parent Permission

To create an account for a child, go to Xbox.com. Select Sign in, then Create a new Microsoft account. You'll need your parent to give you permission.

    Exit Signup

Why am I not able to complete this process? Did I have to create the child's Microsoft account from xbox.com instead of signup.live.com? Is it not possible to create a child's Xbox Live account from a local Xbox 360 profile?

Everything that I've read so far has indicated that ultimately it is not possible. Please confirm.

I have double and triple checked the basic info settings on both the parental account and the child account and they match up as one of the forum entries state to check for issues creating an Xbox Live account from a local profile.

Any explanation and assistance is appreciated.

With xbox one you need create a Microsoft account to do games and online stuff ,but once you created a Microsoft account you can take your xbox one offline to play games . to watch movies offline you need to install the blu ray app .and you might want
set your xbox one to my home xbox to play with your digital games dlc off line and the blu ray app too. with disc games you don't need to be on the internet accept internet require disc games these games need to be on the internet all the time as long
it doesn t say internet require on on the front of the package and gold require. if you need help you can go to xbox one support .com or right here on the forms and also can call Microsoft if you have any problems with game you can quit your game or power
for 10 seconds then wait for 30 seconds then trurn it on or you can uninstall your game or app with disk games you can uninstall it off line .

    profile

    Hi

If the profile was only held locally and not a profile created on Xbox Live then this will now probably be lost. If the profile was created on Xbox Live then all you should need to do is re install it on the console.

If the profile was created on Xbox Live but you cant remember all of the details then hopefully the two links below will help.

    HELP!!!

    Hi there,

only one xbox live account can be connected to a specific Microsoft Account, so if you want to 'upgrade' an offline profile to a xbox live account you will need to use a Microsoft Account that doesn't have an xbox live account already connected.

So if you don't have an Microsoft Account without an Xbox live account connected you will need to create a new Microsoft Account if you want to 'upgrade' that offline profile.

Just to be sure this is the link with the steps on how to create a Xbox live account from an offline profile:

How to fix this problem with two Xbox profiles and only one email

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Boba, you say you created an account in 2019, that account had already been logged into an Xbox or microsoft site, because when that happens it creates a Gamertag for that email account, i.e. your Gametag and Microsof account are one.

You can't delete a Gamertag without deleting the email, whenever you want to create an account to use on Xbox, you'll first create the email, and when you log on to xbox or xbox website, you'll be created and associated with a Gamertag for that profile.
