Want to change my GT to one I used to have on old account

My old account that I haven't been logged in on in over 7 years is Krolitian. My new account, as I don't have access to the old one anymore, is now Krolitian1. I'd like to be able to change mine back to the original without the number as I saw online that GTs expire after 5 years of inactivity, yet when I try to claim it on the new account it says it already exists and wants me to put numbers after it. How do I fix this?

It may mean that someone else has beaten you to it or the gamertag is still in reserve. Although it states 5 years but it could take longer as it's absolutely at the discretion of Microsoft. Since the system doesn't let you take the gamertag, then it isn't available. Sorry about that

Lol. I'm afraid no one. Support do not take questions on gamertags availability. You'll just have to keep looking out for when it becomes available.

No one beat me to it. I can look up the account and see that it's still attached to my old account. How much longer can it take until it goes back into the availability pool?

I don't have access to the old account. That's the whole reason I was waiting the 5 years for it to expire, but 7 years later it's still not available to claim even though the old account clearly shows 7 years of inactivity.
