Want to approve child friend requests but can find this in XBOX or Family settings

I have a child account setup for my 9 year old. I want to be prompted to approve any friend request he receives so I can be sure who he is communicating with. I've read this was possible at one point (XBox 360 maybe?), but I can not find this anywhere.
This seems like something that should be obvious as necessary. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

  2. No prompt to approve child friends - Xbox One

I've added my son to my Family and assigned him Child Default privacy settings in the Xbox One console. It says he can add friends with parent approval. However, when he tries to add a friend I am not prompted and his request is simply blocked. If I unblock
friends in his customized settings, he can add whatever friends he wants, but I am still not promoted to approve them.

I want my son to communicate and play games with his friends, but I need the ability to approve them. He is only 9 years old and I am not comfortable simply turning him loose on this thing. Please help...

Allow child to play Mine Craft with approved friends.

    Hello FireMedicLee,

I found this but have not tried it yet. I would give this a shot.

    Changing Safety and Privacy settings:
On your console, go to the Settings page and select Privacy.
    Choose "Change Settings".
Choose a preset privacy group or choose "Customize".
Online Friends – Other people on Xbox Live may want to add your child to their personal friends list. To manage approval of your child’s online friends,
you can require these requests to be approved by you.
*Choose "Approval not required" to allow your child to send and accept new friend requests.
*Choose "Require Approval" to require that friend requests be approved by you. If you choose this option, you must also approve any new friend request that your child wants to send to other gamers.
It will ask you to enter a password when a friend request is sent or approved.
Communications – Manage who your child can communicate with on Xbox Live. Communication on Xbox Live includes chat, messages, and game invitations using
    voice, video, or text.
    Choose your level of security:
Select "Everyone" to allow your child to communicate with anyone on Xbox Live.
Select "Friends Only" to allow your child to communicate only with people on his or her friends list.
Select "Blocked" to block everyone from communicating with your child. Your child will still receive new friend requests.
To exit press the B on your controller, and then choose Save and Exit.

Could somebody have hijacked my child's Minecraft account on Xbox Live?

What do you mean "add herself/himself" as a friend?

Usually, friends are "mutual", which means one can request to be a friend, and only if your kid allows that person in their friend list, they become friends.

You as a parent can have your child's account added to your adult account via
    https://account.microsoft.com/family
and set your child's account up so you will have to approve friend requests as a parent.

    Help me - Parental control

You won't be able to block individual games, no, but restrictions can be set based on content ratings per below.

This is posted in the sticky on this forum:

    -

Parental controls are divided into two groups: console controls and online safety and privacy . Console controls are located in the Family Settings or Family Center area on your console (depending on your Xbox LIVE membership type).

    Turn on console controls

    1. On your console, go to the Settings Hub and select Family.
    2. Select Content Controls.
    3. Select On to turn on Console Safety.
    4. Enter a 4-button pass code using your controller.
    5. Select Save and Exit.
Once Console Safety is turned on, you can explore the individual parental controls such as

    Ratings and Content:
These settings let you restrict games and video content based on the content's rating. You can also set whether or not unrated or explicit content can be played on this console.

    Family Timer:
This setting allows you to limit the time that your console can be used on a daily or weekly basis

    Xbox LIVE Access:
This setting allows you to decide if your family can connect to Xbox LIVE from this console.

    Xbox LIVE Membership Creation:
This setting allows you to control whether or not new Xbox LIVE memberships can be created from your console.

Change your safety and privacy settings

    1. On your console, go to the Settings Hub and select Privacy.
    2. Select Change Settings.
    3. Select a premade privacy group or select Customize.

You need to do this on your child’s gametag. This alone can help your family out. I do not work for Microsoft and this is NOT an official post. These are just some tips that I use for my kids.

How to approve friendship for a child account?

Sorry!! forgot to mention, sign into the child's profile and then go into the friends list, there you should see the friend request pending. Click on the friend request to add the friend, once you click add friend, it will download the family settings and
it will bring up the message "Your parent must approve your friends." It will display the parent email address and request your password before the friend request is approved and added to the list.

    Hope this helps :)

How to approve friendship for a child account?

Hi! First do you have the child account set to allow friend friend requests or to block them? If it is set to allowed then the child can approve it themselves however If set to Blocked, the adult account must approve all friend requests. Here is a link
