Fortunately, you can un-pickle this issue. ;D

There's nothing against having 2 profiles, and it shouldn't cause you any additional problems. If you only want to keep up with one, you can either remove the other profile from your xbox or just not sign into it and pretend it doesn't exist.

Each account needs separate gold memberships or yes, you can purchase the family plan. If you're only planning on having 2 accounts though, the family plan might not be the best idea. The family plan is really only a deal if you have 4 accounts and there
have been some issues with the plan that haven't been worked out yet.

what you could probably do is see if support has a way to deactivate the newly created gold account and then activate the silver account you want to gold.
