Does anyone have any suggestions as to an Xbox 360 console would suddenly start having hard drive issues? I have a Modern Warfare 2 Edition 360 with the 250G hard drive. I purchased it pre-owned 4 years ago, and up until about the beginning of this summer
I haven't had ANY issues with it. However, the past few months have given rise to an issue with what I've managed to narrow down to the hard drive. When it's connected to the console it takes an excessive amount of time to start up, load the dashboard, load
games, download games and add-ons... Basically anything that requires the hard drive is taking much longer than it used to take to perform the same action. If I remove the hard drive the console starts quickly. Obviously it asks to install the update since
it is not accessing the hard drive. I don't want to lose all of the saved games and add-ons that I've had installed over the past 4 years that I've owned this great console. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the update numerous times, because apparently the
first dozen or so times I was asked to do it weren't enough. I'm to the point now where I'm ready to turn this console into a shooting target and walk away from Microsoft and Xbox for good.

Am I doing something wrong????? Why is it taking so long for opponent to play? Been on here 15 mins and still haven't had a play from opponent

It can take a while until your opponent makes this move. If your opponent still hasn't made his move after 7 days, you can force a resignation and you automatically win.

Have you tried simply clearing the cache?

Make sure you delete anything off it that you don`t use, installed games for example.

You can always reinstall them later on if needed.

 

I want to start saying thank you, THEOWENKILLER, for responding so quickly. To answer your question, I have cleared the cache multiple times as well. I even tried one more time right after my original post, and I also went through and deleted everything
on my hard drive that I felt was no longer necessary. The only other thing I can think of to do is reformat my drive, but won't that delete my gamer profile and all that's attached to it? Thsnks again for any help and/or information in resolving this increasingly
annoying issue.

 

I had a similar issue to yours a few years ago, reformatted my hard drive and it fixed the issue. Hopefully it fixes yours too

 

Formatting your hard drive will delete everything.

You will be able to redownload your profile, providing you have all email and password info.

You account is stored within microsofts system, so can never be deleted just by erasing your hard drive.

Your game saves will be deleted, you could always save them to a flash drive first and transfer them back later.

Any downloaded games or dlc will be deleted and can be redownloaded from your download history on your guide button,provided they are still on the marketplace.

One thing you may lose is some avatar items that are no longer available or were in game awards.

Hard drives do go wrong, certainly ones over 5 years old can, a format still may not fix it.

The hard drives for fat consoles can be picked up really cheap these days, just be sure to buy an official one and not a cheap Chinese fake one.
