    Have had this issue for as long as I can remember, it is super frustrating.

    I keep my OS and all my applications on an SSD (CW10 Store - UWP Games cannot be updated if installed on non-system drive. :), and all of my games on a large Raid0 array (DW10 Store - UWP Games cannot be updated if installed on non-system drive. :).

    Whenever I install a w10 store game and select D:, the game will work just fine. But whenever there is an update I get a variety of error codes and end up having to re-install/download the entire game again.

    This is especially an issue for Gears5. Since you can only (AFAIK) install the HD texture pack from inside the game, I basically cannot get the HD texture pack installed if the game is on my D: drive at all, since it is downloaded like an update in the w10 store, which always fails if the game is on D:. Moving it from C: to D: after 'installing' the texture pack also loses it somehow. This is probably why all those people were getting their texture pack download stuck on launch.

    I'm not quite sure why windows10 gives you the option to install your store apps on other drives if the updates never work after the fact? This seems like a huge oversight.

    I thought it might be a permissions issue, but I now know better than to mess with the WindowsApps folder permissions on my machine.

    Make sure you have correctly installed the updates available for W10 (including the Fall Creators Update). Also make sure you are logged in on W10 with the same user used on the console and open the windows store to download the game.

    If you cannot download and install Microsoft Bingo from the W10 Store, then try to restore the app with the "wsreset.exe" command.

    Basically, the updates are linked to the game. When the update is downloaded, it is stored with the game or in the game files, so therefor you cannot have the game update stored on a seperate drive to where the game is installed

    No, you cannot use games or apps from Microsoft Store installed on X system on Y system. You will only be able to run the games you installed on your external hard drive on the system you originally used to install.
