VUDU and NETFLIX not displaying 4k

At some point this week, VUDU and NETFLIX stopped supporting 4k for my Xbox One X.

Netflix simply doesn't display the 4k option, and VUDU asks if I'm looking to play in 4k, and suggests there's a problem with HDCP 2.2

The Xbox is connected to a Yamaha RX-V379 and then to a TCL US5800, both of which are HDCP 2.2 compliant. They are connected using 2.0 HDMI cables.

4k works fine when the Xbox is connected directly to the TV, but this isn't practical for me whereas I do not get the quality of sound from the optical out cable from the TV.

Are there settings on the Xbox that would have triggered this change?

4K Display issues

When I try to set my Xbox One S to 4K display, I end up with screen stuttering, flashing, or green lines intermittently displaying. I checked the forums and the mentioned cable issues, but I've been through 3 cables now, and the TV and cable worked fine
with a 4K Bluray player.

I find that if I reset the Xbox, it will display in 4K fine unless I load Netflix or VUDU (which I believe are the only apps that actually do 4K native; I think the rest just upscale)

Do I need to send the Xbox in for repair?

Netflix showing in 720P, but I have a 4K TV, xbox One S and a 100MB/s connection

Once the One s launched regardless if you have a top tier Netflix account it still wasn't displaying 4K movies. There was an update and fixed all that. Once you open Netflix youll see the 4K ultra HD content available. Pretty decent amount

Actually I figured out the problem this morning. It was simple and totally my own fault. The Yamaha RX-V379 is, in fact, HDCp 2.2 compliant, but only for HDMI in port #4. So the Xbox One X MUST be plugged into HDMI port #4 to play 4k apps.

I hope that this helps anyone that was having the same problem as I.

Yes, I have tried that. When I do 1080P for the display, it then switches to 4K only for 4K apps like Netflix and Vudu. When it switches to 4K the stuttering and flashing occurs.

The TV is a Panasonic TC-55CX400U.

Netflix has a few payment choices.

1. SD

2. HD

3. 4k

If you don't pay for the 4k netflix will not display 4k nor will the audio enhance.

To receive hdr on the epson 5040 navigate on the Xbox one s to settings>>>display and sound>>>video output>>>advanced video settings>>>and select the item "allow YCC 4:2:2" which should place a check in the block. This enables the proper chroma sub sampling
that enables hdr on the epson 5040. If you do not have this option you must update your Xbox one s to the latest version which is 10.0.15063.1003 which was released on 3/21/17. It works only with 4K blu ray and not through apps such as Vudu, Netflix and Amazon

Are there any plans to further update the firmware to be able to process streaming apps such as Vudu, Netflix and Amazon?

So basically the statement on MS Store that you can stream Netflix and Amazon in 4k is false when it comes to Amazon?

The Netflix 4k works fine on mine and so does 4k HDR disc playback. Amazon has not updated the app in years and it certainly does not list any 4k categories for purchase or play. My Roku 4 does. A little peeved at Vudu too. They haven't updated their app
for Xbox One or S in years.

Can't get an answer out of Amazon as to why they are listed as supported for 4k, but they have not updated their app.
