Vudu and Amazon Video having problems since the New Xbox One Update. "Judder" or ...

First noticed this on Vudu and then on Amazon Prime Video apps. On any movie or tv show title I try, the video quality "stutters" ever so slightly, such as when a person's head turns to the left or they run down a hallway, etc, it's like a frame is skipped.
It happens every few seconds. It's subtle but very annoying, makes it unwatchable. I contacted xbox support chat here and they had remove my profile, delete the apps, add my profile back, download the apps, clear mac address in settings, didn't work.

No other issues with the Xbox, Netflix streams fine, youtube is fine, games not having any issue, even called Comcast, they came out and nothing wrong on their end.

Very frustrating as I use Vudu most of all to watch movies that I have digitally. Again, no problems at all until the new xbox update/"experience" from November.

Are there any plans to further update the firmware to be able to process streaming apps such as Vudu, Netflix and Amazon?

 

BUMP and some further details/things I have tried which confirm this is a Xbox One and the new update issue.

1) switched to wireless, same judder effect, have noticed it now on Hulu as well by the way.

2) changed the Ethernet cable, didn't think that would work but what the hell, but nothing changed.

3) finally went out and bought a Linksys router to try instead of my netgear, wondering if it was a router issue with the new update, and would just return the router if not. And sure enough there was NO DIFFERENCE** On the Linksys router the judder/stutter
effect is still there.

 

When i'm watching a movie on my VUDU app it'll freeze every few minutes but the audio will keep playing. It'll start playing again like normal but in a minute or so it'll happen again. Also, the screen will go dark like the brightness has been turned down.
The movie and audio keeps playing but it's hard to watch because the screen is so dark. PLease fix!

 

I've been reporting this issue since the first beta of the NXOE. Its a hitching issue that happens constantly and most noticeably on moving parts of video most noticeable on panning.

This happens on every app I've tested except for Netflix. Its really prevalent on the Movies and TV app.

I've been in contact with the Movies & TV department but the issue still remains. After a closer look this is not an issue specific to any app but system wide, except for Netflix (it must be rendering its video differently).

Movies & TV app is the easiest to troubleshoot since you can hook up a windows pc/tablet and run the movies and TV app for the same exact content and there is no hitching/pausing whatsoever. Its completely smooth.

As of right now video playback is broken for the Xbox one. Try to raise awareness from media outlets, like digital foundry, ign, etc.

I've tested this on wired, wireless, multiple Xbox ones, multiple ISPs' , multiple times during the day. This did not happen before the NXOE update.

Let me know if anyone gets any traction on this issue.

 

Topcow** Thank you my friend!! Misery loves company . It's crazy but to hear you describe the exact thing I am experiencing(and same as you, Netflix is fine) is a big comfort! I knew it wasn't just me.

 

Recently my Amazon app started having issues. I removed the app and planned to reinstall. However now the app won't install. Everytime I try to install it acts like it's going to install and then it just doesn't.

 

no problem CORBENDEN, microsoft staff that has been talking with me have been really responsive and eager to figure out whats going on as well. Hopefully we'll get an update soon.

 

Still can't install Amazon app. Is this going to get fixed

 

Topcowraven, I'm sure you saw this too but it appears this is getting some traction as you say, though somewhat troublesome is it seems to refer to blu ray player issues moreso.

I'm having the same problem, Vudu and Amazon Video app seem to be the ones affected. I had similar choppy video problems when the Xbox One first came out although it was more widespread and affected all streaming video including Blu-ray playback. It was
fixed eventually with an update, not sure when. I agree, it began after the new Xbox One Experience update. Based on the above link it seems to be a known issue that will get fixed in a future update hopefully. I think its important for people to chime in
so that Xbox is made aware of the problem. The troubleshooting provided on xbox.com does NOT fix this problem.

 

Same issue here, thought I was going mad! Don't think my xbox one has ever worked properly, can't plug my cable box into it due to the amount of problems with the picture stutter and instant on causes nightmares where the console boot back up to a black
screen and now all video apps stuttering. Load of crap, never had this problem with the 360!

 

No change to any of the above, judder/stutter is still there. Really hoping the Feb update is going to fix this or I'm going to be royally ***.

 

Same here, been going on for a long time. I'm sure Microsoft will get right on this just like they got on the Kinect issue people were having (sarc)
