volume greyed out, microphone on headset now working

my son has a turtle beach headset and xbox one. The microphone stopped working. We have noticed that the volume section for controller is greyed out. I am guessing this might be the reason. we have tried a bunch of different headsets and none work and
we can't get the volume to ungrey. The microphone works when plugged into a different device. what can we do? Thank you in advance !

Xbox One - Microphone Icon Always Muted

Hello

Following a recent update my headset has stopped working, both in terms of the microphone and the earphones.

I have swopped the headset out for another two other headsets, and indeed changed the controller.

I can't help but notice that the in the top right hand corner of the screen there is a new microphone icon, which is showing as muted. I cannot find anywhere you enable this.

The controllers are both patched up to the latest patch, and both of them are showing the volume button in the controller setup menu as greyed out.

If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.

Microsoft Wired Headset Not Working

Sorry to hear about that, have ago a this:

To connect a wired headset

Turn down the headset volume by rotating the volume control all the way to the left.

Insert the headset plug into the expansion port on your game controller.

Put on your headset and adjust the microphone.

To adjust the volume: Rotate the volume-control knob.

To mute: Switch the microphone button on the headset cable.

 

From my experience with turtle beach headsets you will not see the volume sliders on the adapters or with the headset, if they have the volume controls on them. e.g. if the headset has volume and mic volume controls, you willnot see them available on
the xbox.
