Terrira isn't exactly retro...

Volgarr the Viking was made to have a cool retro feel.

 

I downloaded last night..... started playing it..... started to die often..... stopped playing it..... got up this morning and started again and had nerd rage! What a frustrating game.... very difficult! I have made it to the first snake, which took me
about 30 mins..... grr... but a great game!

 

This is a non-spoiler guide I read while playing it on the PC. Just hints, tips and gameplay mechanics that aren't explained in game.

TV's are expensive and controllers hitting them tend to have a negative impact on their performance so a little help could save ones life.

This game its great old 2d adventure. so hard and so satisfying. specially when I slay the first boss.

 

I think my gaming skills are diminishing because I keep dying in this game. I'm finding it challenging.

 

My brother and I used up 30 minutes tackling this game and it's 2 things: 1) fun & 2) HARD. We never made it off of the initial spawn and only as far as the 1st giant viking statue - Still I was able to collect the metal shield, helmet, flaming sword, and
Thor's blessing* in that time; earning it is one thing, but keeping it all is an entirely different matter. This is exactly how I remember playing games back in the old days (which were mostly pixelated platformers). Kids today don't know how easy they have
it.

* SPOILER ALERT: Thor's blessing can be found at the bottom of the deadly pit where you hang from a rope; you can break the wall with your sword to reveal it.

 

Apparently I'm not old enough to appreciate this garbage. lol I just hate these kinds of games that look like they're from the stone age.

 

Yowza, this throwback game ain't pullin' any punches. It reminds me a lot of the Commodore 64 games, as far as difficulty goes. You either get it right... or you start again.

Will give it another crack tomorrow.

Partied with a friend as he played this last night. It was absolutely hilarious to hear him all cheery and happy pre-game, and just slowly hear his decent into madness as he died over and over again. It was great.

 

I did it! I finally did it! I made it to the 2nd checkpoint! OMG! I've done the impossible!

...now if I can just get past that room with all of the wooden platforms, lizardmen, arrow traps, and spitting plants... :|

 

Meh, apparently it's still not available here so I could download it over the weekend while I'm away from the console :| I wonder when it'll be added to the marketplace...

This game is crazy hard. I like it though. It's tough like Ghost and Goblins.
