Voice not being detected by chat headset but incoming voices loud and clear

Having spent way too long working the forums and waiting on MS support I've given up. Just spent an instructive and quite amusing 10 minutes completely destroying headset. However in the course of doing this, I found the contacts within the USB connector
has been badly scorched. This is using an official pad and chat headset supplied with new Xbox from retailer. Would recommend anyone else who has same issue to check USB connector and then raise issue with MS.

    :)

xbox one mics and adaptors! don't wast your money

There's an option in the settings that says something like "Use Kinect for in game chat" that you can toggle on and off, so you can definitely turn Kinect off for voice chat.

As for the headset adapter, it may be an issue with the headphones you're using it with. On the adapter there are buttons to turn the volume up and down, but there are also buttons to change the balance between the game sounds and voice chat, so using those
you can get the mix just how you like it, so if you want the game sound quiet and the voice chat loud, for example, you can do that. The quality of the voice chat is crystal clear too. I'm using the official MS stereo headset, but a friend of mine uses a Turtle
Beach headset (I'm not sure which model) and he says the same as me, so I think either your headset has an issue or you're not using the controls on the adapter correctly.

    X12 - I hear chat and game volume together....why?

I meant Voice Preferences, Not console Preferences..

But, you can turn the Game Volume down there too & make the Chat Voices Louder etc..

I am going to buy another chat mic to try. If that doesn't work I think I'll try removing all accounts and factory settings the box. After that might give the gaystation a go

Your headset might be making your voice too loud.

    Razer Chimaera 5.1 audio problem?

I'm having the same issues. The headset's too loud for it's own good in comparison to voice chat. If I've paid 200 dollars for a headset, I should be able to control volume independently. This whole Master Volume > Chat Volume is the one reason why I'm not
sure if I'm keeping this headset. Who thought that was a good idea? I've owned Tritton AX Pro's before (horrible durability and customer service, by the way) that allowed the wearer to control incoming audio and chat audio separately, to the point where you
could almost mute game audio and blare voice chat.

I've messed with the whole mode button thing, raised the volume to max for chat on both the headset and the console settings, and I still can't hear other people. I can't really force them to speak loudly.

I've sent Razer a technical support ticket. I'll let you guys know if there's some sort of hidden fix.
