    Voice Commands / Cortana extremely slow and rarely work


    Before the update that brought Cortana to the Xbox One I was fairly pleased with how the voice commands worked and used them all of the time. When Cortana first appeared, I was happy with it as well. Very shortly thereafter, mine started having issues
    and now is almost unusable. When you issue a voice command it can sometimes take 10-15 seconds for the command to show on-screen and sometimes it will not show up at all. I've tried the calibration multiple times with no change. In short, it is extremely
    slow to function and my success rate has dropped so low that I tend to not even try to use it anymore (sadly). Is there anything else I should try to fix this, or is this a larger known-issue?

    Hey ClaspingBug208! Have you tried using the commands with Cortana disabled? Check out
    these steps to disable Cortana and let us know how it works!

    So, Cortana is beyond useless and now my Xbox won't read my external drive!

    Agreed, this "Hey Cortana" is just awful. Not only is it long winded. It's slow and half of the commands now just end up opening an Internet search.

    I've disabled Cortana, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn the old "Xbox" commands back on. So now I'm totally without voice commands. Is there a way of going back once agreeing to Cortana?

    Cortana has killed my XBOX experience

    I understand that this is a preview/beta, but if they knew it would be this bad, they could've at least given us the option of choosing the "Xbox" command or the "Hey Cortana" command. It has made the voice commands almost useless. I rarely look at these
    forums because everything usually works. I only got on here today because I had to see if other people were as fed up with "Hey Cortana" as my fiancé and I are.

    Kinect is dead.

    As mentioned, the Kinect voice commands still work just not the Cortana ones. So voice command wise, it will still work the same as it did when it released.

    Voice commands will only work if you have a kinect or a headset. Cortana has to be turned on first before you use her voice commands, and if you do not have a kinect, then the Xbox voice commands will not be turned on.
