It seems to me that there's been a trend lately where high-profile franchises that sell are being handed down to other companies as the franchises get older, especially with FPS games - it's been done with Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc.
I think even the developers are starting to become a little weary from using the same tried and true formulas from year to year. They're done milking the cow, so they decide to sell it and move on.

As far as the actual game goes, I've always liked how SWAT teams operate, so I find the new concept intriguing, but I'm not sure how they can call that theme a "battlefield" so to speak... In any case, since there's little to no information on this new game
as of yet, I'm going to adopt the wait & see attitude for now. Does anyone know anything else about the company that's taking over the franchise (like what games they've worked on in the past)?

@Galactic Visceral Games has a couple of different studios. The one I'm familiar with makes the Dead Space series. Even though I'm a fan of them I will never buy a Battlefield.

well getting rid of dice was never the answer for me to love the battlefield series again, it was ditching EA and if its going to be opposite and EA sticking with it then they can forget me buying another EA battlefield game, period. EA rushes whatever
they can with no regrets towards broken/non functional games being released for the gamer. Dice and MS servers would make me consider it, EA breaks everything they touch, nuff said.

Seems EA definitly follows Activision path....Get ready for a Battlfield every year,one to try to beat COD,the other one to try to steal The Division hype'.....

Yeah 2014 seems a bit soon to me. Anything with Battlefield in its title really needs to hold off on fast releases after what happened to BF4. Though I do like the idea of police themed battlefield. Has me thinking about die hard.

BF wants to cash in on the success of COD. The sad thing is even with a two year development cycle the games are always buggy as hell upon release
