Virus transfer to Xbox one through external drive.

I want to add external storage to my xbox one to download a game on it since my xbox doesn’t have enough. Ive heard that an xbox cannot be infected with a virus but that applies only from online activity. I doubt that the hard disk i want to use might
be infected. I want to know if my xbox can get infected offline through this hard disk.

nope, you are good to go, to use the hdd for game storage it formats the drive anyway.

It'll have to format it in order to work with the One. So if you don't want to lose that data, you would either need to back it up elsewhere before using it, or use a different hard drive.

Its my moms work hhd and i dont wanna connect if its going to automatically format all the work data.

Format the drive and wipe it before you connect to the xbox if you are concerned. You can then format again when connected to the xbox.

What type of files are you trying to transfer to the external drive? There isn't a way to move files to the drive through your network, but under Games & Apps, you can press the menu button on a game and move it while the external drive is plugged into your
Xbox One.
