  2. Can my Xbox One get a virus using the web browser?

If I go on certain websites on my Xbox One, can it get a virus?

Also someone told me that the Xbox One can get a virus, but the virus would only run in the web browser app. Is this true? And does that mean it wouldn't affect the performance of my games or the dashboard?

Yea. It opens up to it every time. I've closed the app, unplugged, and restarted my console but no luck

Ah, I think I see the problem. You say it opens up to it every time you open the app. As far as I know, IE on Xbox One opens to whatever site was open when you closed the app (even if you fully quit the app.) My guess is, whatever the last site is you visited,
had one of those malicious popups which tells you there's a virus, even though there isn't. Try opening IE, then pressing the "view" button (the button with the two interlocked squares to the left of the Xbox logo.) This should open the address bar, and show
all open "tabs" or windows. Close ALL open tabs and you should just have a blank white screen. Go to a safe site like Bing or xbox.com and see if it loads cleanly (i.e. with no alarming messages.)

    Let me know!

Have you tried restoring the console to factory defaults to get rid of the rootkit?

Here's another suggestion: since you can't get past the error when loading IE, another way to load a website is by doing a bing search from the Home screen. When the search results come up, open a result from the web (not the store or another app.) When
you do that, it should open an entirely new page in IE, bypassing the page with the error. At this point you SHOULD be able to press the View button (the two squares, not the three lines for menu) and from there you can close all open tabs.

I'm still operating under the suspicion that it is a spam/fake virus popup rather than a legitimate virus....

  10. You need to close your Register-Tab via View Button like Jaymo1978 said: (with RB you can open new Tab and Switch between)

Have you tried to reinstall the IE-App?

-Go to Games Apps highliht it press View/menue there should come Option to deinstall.
