Virgin Media Tivo IR Blaster

I have an IR Blaster from my original MCE remote. It has a mono style 3.5 mm connector. I have been through the setup process and told it that I have an IR Blaster. My TV is detected automatically and the Virgin Tivo STB and One guide are also working fine.
But I cannot change channels, volume etc.

I have worked out that the position of the Virgin Tivo IR receiver location is on the left side about 2 inches in, just near the standby light. However the IR Blaster seems to do nothing.

Any thoughts? I'm very interested to get this going, in fact that was the sole reason for buying the Remote.

Xbox one tv UK setup

Thanks for posting about the IR blaster extension link - I never knew they worked with the Xbox One! I do have a question though?! It says to connect the IR blaster extension from the back of the X1 and then attach the other end to the box which you want
to control (it will be my Virgin TiVo which, along with the X1, both will be in the cabinet - the Kinect will sit on top of the tv outside the cabinet).

I still don't understand how the Kinect will blast IR signals to the X1 if the X1 is inside a a cabinet and the TiVo is as well?? Will I need to keep the X1 outside the cabinet, and the TiVo inside the cabinet so that the IR extension cable works?

The IR blaster is a device that has the same tech in your IR remote. Typically, its a corded-remote that you mount over the area where the IR port is.. This is how your AV Revicer, Tivo, etc can remote control your device.

Found an old IR blaster for Tivo, and it works great. NOW...how to get the One to boot straight into full screen TV? My wife is not going to want to shout at the TV.
