I have a ViewSonic VX3258-2KC-MHD. I have tried everything i can think of on my xbox one x. Just did the new update yesterday. i think it was 3.8gb. Still can not reach 1440p @ 120hz. please help! In user guide #5 clearly states that 1440p @ 120hz is supported!!!!!

Data sheet and user guide below.

i have tried override to manual hdmi in the advance options. As well as auto detect. ive tried with free sync on and off. while also checking allow variable refresh rate both ways. 4k is off. hdr is off. hdmi input is 2.0. My hdmi cord is also
the one that came with the xbox one x,

xbox one x wont run at 125hz unless at 1080p

    Hi neversatisfied415,

I’m about 99% sure there is nothing wrong with your Xbox One. The supported resolution and refresh rate is 1080P/1440P @ 120hz. It wont go higher than that. As for that Dell monitor, on these forums I have come across people having issues with getting 120hz
over 1440P on that model. Could it be that the feature was not activated via firmware? Only Dell Support can help you there.

I have been thinking about a 1440P monitor for a while now and so far my research is pointing towards the Gigabyte models where the user manuals state support for 1440p/120hz. I am waiting to see what resolutions are supported by Series X and if we finally
    get 3440x1440 before commiting.

My suggestion is before committing to any 1440P monitor check the user manual to see if it clearly states support for 1440P/120Hz over HDMI. I would also be looking at newer released models of monitors (2019 onwards)

1440p @ 120Hz not working with my monitor on Xbox Series X

How old is your monitor? I only ask as I found this on the Dell support site:

    https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/S3220DGF-not-running-120Hz-5/td-p/7574963

It seems sometime between 2019 and 2020, they may have made changes to that model to enable 120Hz...as the community manager mentions:

"You are referencing the new S3220DGF User's Guide A01 dated April 2020 which shows HDMI 2560x1440 120Hz."

"All past S3220DGF + Xbox One X threads referenced the old User's Guide A00 dated September 2019 which did not show HDMI 2560x1440 120Hz."

"The manufacturer at the factory is installing a newer EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) on New unsold and used/refurbished S3220DGF to allow HDMI 1920x1080 120Hz and HDMI 2560x1440 120Hz."

So, if your monitor is pre-September 2020, then it would be working on the old timings which won't allow 120Hz due to the EDID timings. If you have a PC, you can check to see what it shows for the 120Hz range....the Xbox needs a timing of exactly 120Hz whereas sometimes a monitor timing will be 119.99Hz

3D Blu-ray movies no longer play in 3D mode

    Hello Mister Maka,

    My screen is a 1080p 120hz ViewSonic V3D245 (VS13777) 24" 3D PC monitor with audio output capability.

So far the only movies I tried were Brave 3D and Avatar 3D. I do have others I can try and will post my results as my time permits.

    Xbox series x 4k@120fps problem

Ps5 doesn't do true 120hz it emulates it
Not true. PS5 does do full 120Hz, it lacks VRR support, for now at least. But it's still 120Hz.
