    Video Settings


    For whatever reason I was trying to set my video input to HDMI instead of auto. When I changed the settings to HDMI and changed the color to 32BIT my screen went black and now I can only hear the game auto in my headset. Please if anyone knows a way
    to change my resolution I would be very thank full!

    Hey Glutany67! Those button functions should still be the same, I just tested them out and the 'Start' button worked for me! You can also use the 'A' button for the same functionality to play and pause your Netflix shows. Give it another try and let me know
    what happens. Video Settings :)

    Before one of the changes to the dashboard when I used the netflix app all you needed to do was use the start button with the regular controller to pause and play but now it doesn't is there a way to change the settings or do I need to buy one of those stupid
    remotes cause I'd like to avoid that

    Have you attempted to use a different HDMI port just to ensure the problem is with Xbox settings and not the TV? Also try a different HDMI cord if possible to limit other possible issues.

    Also are you running the cable through any other devices such as a tuner, HDMI switch, or sound bar instead of going directly to the tv?

    Im not to familiar with steam but if it is a downloaded game, you should try to delete and redownload the game. If it is video issues you are having, look under display on the control panel. It might be an issue with the resolution of your monitor.

    Hi,

    Firstly, changing the setting from 'Automatic' to 'Override' and setting everything yourself won't damage anything. The main reason why the automatic display settings exist is so that the console can automatically set the best settings for for itself depending on what TV or monitor you connect your console to. So that you won't have to.

    If you override a setting to something your display doesn't support, your TV will display a message that the setting isn't supported and you'll likely be left with a blank screen. At which point you'd need to reset the console display settings.

    TVs and monitors contain software that can communicate with another device and tell it what it is capable of, this is called EDID (Extended Display Identification Data). Put simply, with the console set to default 'automatic' mode, the TV and console will 'talk to each other' when first connected, with the display telling the console what it can do and the console adjusting its settings accordingly.

    You can override these settings if you wish, but this is mainly for troubleshooting display issues. Otherwise it's best to just leave it on automatic.
