    Video Player Odd Issue


    I use the System Video Player a lot on my Xbox 360. I have an odd issue with a non-existent PC showing up as a source and it's driving me nuts. I've even tried formatting the disk etc. to lose it. My guess is the computer it detected was on a public WiFi
    at college. It's where I first noticed it and our dorm had wifi as well as a wired connection. My guess is that the PC it "sees" is someone who was on that network.

    Problem is , I've been out of school for months and I'm on a completely different network now. I never tried connecting to it so I'm not sure why it remembers that computer. Currently I see , Downloaded Videos , Current DISC, USB Thumb Drive, and some
    random Windows computer that was on that network.

    Is there anyway I can get my Xbox to refresh the mapped network? My guess is that it has the information cached somewhere. Thanks.

    OK yes that is very odd It might be getting changed into a format that the video players on xbox one doesn't run that might be why it can only work on pc. I suggest moving the files to pc and reformatting the hard drive again to media side of things to
    see if that fixes the issues and you don't lose any videos either :)

    As odd as it sounds I have heard that setting your video settings to “auto detect” can fix a lot of non video repeated issues with movie playback.

    That is odd. Is it a purchased video or a rental?

    When you rent a video you can only watch it on the device you started the rental from, just in case that is the issue.

    The odd thing is that if I use Play To from within Windows Media Player then it will send anything to my Xbox. If I also use Windows Media Center then that works as well. I just want to be able to use the basic video and music players.

    I know that. The thing is, the message is weird. It should just tell me that I don't have the proper privileges. This sounds like something that might persist even if I had Gold.
