As more people are becoming increasingly dependant on technology in their daily lives, kids are becoming far more technological savy beginning at far younger ages than ever before. Put a tablet, smart phone, media player, video game system, etc...in front
of just about any kid no matter how young they are and you will see them pick it up and be able to operate it without even trying in no time.

To them these things have always been here, they were born into a digital age. Long gone are the days of non stop playing outdoors and staying out till it got dark until you heard your mother yell your name from down the street that it was dinner and time
to come in, only for you to want to run right back outside. Nope now getting many kids to even step out side to do anything is a chore, it's almost like forcing a vampire into sunlight..they will fight and argue and claw at you to get back to their video screen
like they will turn to ash should the sun even touch them. Now obviously with the Pandemic it slightly changes things for everyone, but you know what I mean. Times have absolutely changed and kids play and interact far differently than those that grew up before
    all these advanced technologies existed.

Because of this kids also now learn differently. They can easily navigate and use the tools and technology available to them, but with these things they also are much more easily distracted. Certain things once commonly taught in schools (Handwriting is
a good example) is a thing of the past. Ask many kids to sign their name in cursive and they will look at you confused in the same way they would if you asked them to dial a rotary phone. So my question to you that I would love to hear your thoughts on is,
do you think with how our children now interact with each other and how easily they grasp technology, would the use of video games in schools be a way to perhaps gain their attention and help kids learn and perform better in the classroom?? What sorts of pros
and cons do you think there would be doing this? Especially now with the pandemic and many kids virtually learning, would it benefit schools and also the kids to bring video games into the mix? Let me know your thoughts..I look forward to hearing from folks.

    :)

i got my first pc at the age of four, in 1982, started writing games from the codes in books at age 5, started altering games at age 6, been working with computers all my life but i still had time outside. it is no different now than it was then, just different
hardware but they seem to lay about more. school is for learning in real life things, ie maths for budgeting etc, they should learn how to live life without tech first as if tech ever gets lost or goes down they wont have a clue. yes have an IT class but
all schooling should be done with pen and paper and proper education, learning skills on how to sew, woodwork and general diy. kids are leaving school these days without a clue and think everything is handed to them on a silver platter.

I also believe that schools should be a phone free zone, no outside tech.

Bring back caning also as most of the kids these days need disciplin, my kids dont step out of line and they get everthing they need.

I for sure agree that we need to bring back some of the most important skills into the classroom like home economics, handwriting, etc..so our kids are prepared for life as those are fundamental skills needed to survive, but that does aslo include the use
of technology unfortunately so those too are needed. The world around us has evolved and changed in the last couple decades, now more companies, stores, resources, etc... are all online and in a digital world. People do more online now than the physical world.
Companies have eliminated the use of paper to instead go digital. Times have changed for sure from what it was like really since growing up in the 80s or before that time. Now while I agree that should the tech go away and die due to whatever, we would be
totally lost and set back to the stone age for lack of better term, but sadly this is the reality we live in and hopefully some folks are living more of a hybrid life than all digital way of life for that very reason.

That all being said, yes growing up for us was different and some beginnings of tech existed..for myself I miss the 80s they I think were the best and honestly had some of the coolest stuff and yes even the hair I would love to have come back! Tech was
limited and highly expensivr especially since it was only really starting to develop into what it became today...but we did in fact go more outside and use our imaginations, because that's really all we had. The world wasn't saturated yet with technology,
some existed but not nearly what it is today..I think back when all we had in our home was an atari/nes, a Walkman, my dads stereo with turntable, and a TV that was about 300 pound and was dial style rabbit ears. Other than that there wasn't much tech we
could either afford or even was out there. Now walk in to many homes and its like walking into a Bestbuy...everything digital and has a screen..so naturally kids attention and level of wanting even step outside has gone down a bit and I absolutely consider
it somewhat laziness, on the parents to say get outside, but also the level of availability to tech now has become what kids want..like an addiction.

So while we can not change the world and go back to the 80s sadly as I would hope for the many things I lived about it, we need to accept it is as is and find a way to adjust our kids and gain their attention, thus the question of video games in school or
not . My opinion..yes..but in a specific way...not full-on gaming but creation of games that "appear" to be similar but in reality are educational..without the kids realizing it they are learning. And its also monitored so we can control what's taught..I really
think kids will glue to the screen and learn faster if we use what is now I consider their strengths in being able to use such things.

In regards to your last statement, yeah I grew up in a different way of life too and know the harder way of discipline and my parents sadly did too but I truly cannot ever condone or accept that its how we discipline our kids and I vowed to never ever do
that to my own and it has been 100 percent successful and I have model kids that succeed in school with As and behave, are respectful and also have proper manners,, and ive heard as such from many folks.. physicality while obviously causes change in ways people
act, but in the end its actually in a negative way..you may think they behave or are good because of it, but in the end deep inside they are not..anyone who says different is lying to themselves because anyone who had it happen feels deep inside hurt by it,
that's why therapists make so much money. Fear and pain does not make positive change it only creates more fear and pain. But I digress this is not what this discussion is for..so let's please leave it out of it going forward and keep things friendly and positive
    conversation.

Haha! Yes Futurama's version was great. So was Freddie Wong's version in the old school vs new school video. And Saint's Row 4 has a brief nod to the game in the white house mission.
