VGA Monitor + Sound Cable

I am going to be getting an XBox One and do not own a television. I have a VGA monitor, non-HDMI, without internal speakers. What cable do I need to play the Xbox using the monitor? I know it's not just any old cable, but the google results aren't very
helpful. I also have a USB sound device. Would this work with the Xbox or should I get a VGA + Sound cable?

If your monitor has red, green, and blue cable connections then it sounds like your monitor uses component. The HD AV VGA cable will only work with a monitor that has a VGA input, but you may want to consider an HDMI cable if your monitor supports it.

You'd need one of these. Getting sound off it is more tricky - you'll have to resort to the optical output port of the XB1.

If the 2 inputs on your monitor are DVI (White) and VGA (Blue), Then if your PC has a DVI output, use that input on the monitor and use the VGA cable for the Xbox 360 on the monitor's VGA input.

With sound, you didn't really specify how you're set up for sound with your computer, but if its PC speakers with 3.5mm jacks, it'll need an extra adapter for the VGA cable. But get back to me on that first and then we'll see.

If the monitor supports HDMI, use an HDMI cable. If not, use an HDMI to DVI cable.

If the monitor only supports VGA, use the AV port VGA cable.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

It's best to simplify the connections from your Xbox 360 console to your display if possible. If you have The Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable, then these are the steps to connect to your monitor:

Connect the A/V connector on the VGA cable to the A/V port on the console.
Connect the VGA connector on the VGA cable to the VGA port on your HDTV or monitor.
Connect the left and right (white and red) audio connectors on the VGA cable to the audio port on the monitor.
Turn on the monitor and console.

Make sure you are also connecting the red and white audio connectors to the monitor.
