Very Strange Gamertag Situation!

Hello Xbox community. I've been experiencing an odd "glitch" of sorts within the xbox system. Well, here goes.

There's a particular Gamertag that I've had in mind for a while now, and as I have had interest in it, I've periodically checked to make sure it's still available. Every day, I've gone on my console, gone to "Edit Profile", then "Edit Gamertag", and entered
my desired Tag in. This has always resulted in "Are you sure you want to use '(Sample Gamertag)' as your Gamertag?". Meaning I could take it whenever I wanted. However, today, when I finally decided to make the change, I recieved the "This gamertag is already
in use" message. Needless to say, I found that a bit odd, so I logged onto Xbox.com and signed up for a new account with one of my dormant emails. I went to change the default name to my desired gamertag, and I got the green light.

If that was a bit hard to follow, let me sum it up.

-On my console, It says that my desired gamertag is unavailable.

-On Xbox.com, I could claim it, effectively taking an "unavailable tag".

Please, offer some advice if you could, that'd be great.

Very Sticky Situation

What is the reason you're locked out? Has your account been hacked or have you forgotten your password? You should be able to reset your account through the Microsoft website either with forgotten password or be it you think someone else is using it. If
your xbox linked account is locked and the password is no longer working. You will need to remove the account-linked profile from your console, reset the password, and then sign in again.

 

Blu Ray & DVD App Problems

Got my replacement X1 plays Blu Ray & DVD now.

Very strange, used same Gamertag and account details as before.

 

Were you actually able to create an account with that name, or is it just saying you should be able to?

Because the system does not recognise things like spaces and capitalisation differentiating tags* so if you actually went and hit confirm it may suddenly realise there's a 'variation' of the tag preventing you from taking the one you want. If that makes
sense...

*To show what I mean, 13 = 13 = m a x e n 1 3 = 13

So for instance, because I have the first one, if you went and searched for one of the other three it may initially say that it does not exist or that it's an OK gamertag for you to have, but if you actually went and ahead and tried to make an account with
one of those names it would prevent you from doing so because it's effectively the 'same' as mine.

 

Well, I hadn't actually pressed "Claim it", because in case it does work, I wouldn't want the Tag tied to one of my dormant emails. Now I suppose that makes sense, but it just seems so odd since just yesterday the Tag was available, just as it was two days
ago.. and a week ago.. Y'know?

I knew that same tags with different spacing/capitalization were considered the same, but this is just strange.
