Very slow start up & constantly goes to a black screen

Hi,

I bought my son an Xbox One X earlier in the year and so far it seems to be a pile of rubbish so much so that I'm sure it must be broken.

It's always been pretty awful, difficult to get it to do things, slow to update and quick to crash but over the past couple of weeks it has got out of hand. It's currently booting up and has been for the past 5 minutes, I'm suspecting that it's crashed before
it even fully booted up.

I managed to get to the home screen earlier for a few minutes but then the screen went black and that was that. I restarted it and after 3 or 4 minutes got back to the home screen. I tried clearing the local data on the Xbox and it said it needed to restart,
which it did and is still restarting.

So, my problems are these: first it is incredibly slow to start up - several minutes and that's when it does start up. Secondly, once it is up and running the screen frequently goes completely black and the system becomes completely unresponsive. Today it
let me restart it by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console but yesterday it wouldn't even respond to that.

Is there anyway I can download some sort of update or patch to fix this thing or should I just throw it in the bin and go buy a PS4?

Unreadable disc error

I do have it installed. Seems my whole xbox is struggling. Very slow to log in when I start BO2 getting a black screen and freeze up

When I boot up this game it either goes from black screen to my home screen or it plays the videos really slow/laggy

Is there an fix for this?

I would advise against thowing it in the bin, since as far as I know Microsoft gives a 1 year warranty on the console (could be more depending on the country/region you are from)

To try and fix things, please try the Factory reset option via these steps (There is an option to keep games and apps installed, feel free to choose that one)

Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back in. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the EJECT button (located
on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. Note If you don't hear two power-up tones after 15 seconds,
it means this failed. Likewise, if you hear any “power-down” chirps, that also means this failed. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone. This should show a menu with the option to factory reset the console, if it does not
please try the steps again.

If these steps do not fix the issues, then I suggest contacting Xbox Support via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat to see if they have any other steps to try, they can also assist you in setting up a repair request and also confirm if the repair is within
warranty or not.
