Very confusing/aggravating experience with getting my Xbox repaired.

Recently my Forza 6 edition Xbox One quit reading games. The disc drive would just make a grinding and clicking noise when trying to read a game. I tried every tip and possible fix I could find online and nothing. Nothing helped my problem. So about a week
or 2 ago I sent it to MS for a repair. It came back today with a letter in the box saying my Xbox had been thoroughly tested and no issues were found. I hooked it back up and everything is installing and playing just fine so far. I'm not crazy. Something was
wrong with my Xbox and I believe they knew a simple fix without having to open the system up. But atleast it's back to working.

So now on to the bad:

The front face that extends from the right side of the disc drive to the right side of the console has a crack all the way across it. It was not there before I mailed it out. I inspected the entire thing before hand. It was wrapped EXTREMELY well. It had
3 layers of bubble wrap around it as well as a ton of bubble wrap in the box with it. I'm not too mad because I know there's absolutely nothing that I can do about it. Also in the letter it said they included a free 1 month XBL card for my inconvenience. Well,
to my surprise the card isnt in the box anywhere.

Very confusing

I love the songs and I love that I sweat! I hate that the person showing you the moves is looking at you. This confuses the kids (and me). You have to remember to use the opposite foot and arm as they are on the TV. The game would be better if the person was standing with their back to you. You could then mirror the moves.

 

DONE* with this xbox live issue.

I agree...very aggravating...not even playing online and keep getting disconnected...won't let me even play offline...

 

If it was sent to your by signature required courier (which it should have been in the first place), it pays to unwrap, unbox everything and check. Sure this may waste a busy courier persons time, but part of their job is to ensure the device arrives in
one piece to you. If it looks damaged, note that when signing for the delivery. If you don't note that it was damaged, the courier company is not liable for damages which occur in transit.

Yes getting things repaired is a big hassle. It could have been a software glitch. Try restarting your console (cold start). I know sometimes my disc drive does the same thing too. Just take it out put it back in again. After a few goes, it should be reading
your game discs fine. I think they went with a cheap Philips disc drive in original Xbox 1 consoles, that's why the original Xbox 1 consoles are not designed to be placed upright, because of the choice of disc drive Microsoft made. But with the Xbox 1 Slim,
it is designed to be placed upright because Microsoft probably went for a different/better disc drive.

 

I did a hard reboot several times before sending it out for repairs. Nothing I did helped. But it's working now so that's good. MS did something to fix it. IDC if they deny it or not. I know it has been completely formatted and every update was wiped off
the HDD. Someone who doesnt know to atleast do a hard reset when a problem arises probably wouldnt take the time to post on a public forum. The reason I didnt check it before the Fedex lady left is because I didnt realize it was my Xbox. I thought it was
something else I had ordered. I didnt think they would get it back to me this fast.

 

Sucks that happened, but at least you got the same console back. I always thought they sent different ones to you.

 

Might well be a different one of it was completely formatted and has a crack on it, if it was me I'd certainly contact Xbox Support to explain the situation.

 

or it could have been knocked on its way to the repair centre and that fixedthe issue then it got knocked again on the way back to cause the crack.

 

@ brand,if it's a limited/special edition console they tend to fix them if they can & send the same console back.

Normal consoles & they tend to send a refurb back just to speed up the process.

I'd not be happy if I was the op but the problem is proving that the crack wasn't there when they sent it.
