    Vertigo and nausea with VR

I have been an avid gamer for over 33 years, and yes I consider myself very fit and strong considering I'm retired

US Army. Having said this, I have looked forward to using VR since I was a child and it was merely a concept. Now I finally get to experience it on a very large-scale, and high-quality device (mall expo show).

After just a few minutes of operating a mech suit in a game, my breathing was being affected and I was severely nauseous to the point of having to remove the headset and donate the rest of my time to a nearby child. I went and sat down in order to recover,
and I'll be honest I was absolutely delirious for a few minutes. So my real question, is this normal?

    Let's discuss.

    :)

In my opinion the concept is cool, but would not use, lately that this subject came up, I'm seeing many reports of these symptoms, I do not think normal.

Unfortunately this is common. Sometimes it can be because the game or experience isn't designed well but everyone copes differently too. I can't use vr for too long either.

I think the real question is which headset were you using? There's a tonne of reports of people having the same issues on lower refresh rate screens, whereas high refresh rate headsets like the Valve Index or Vive Pro present much less motion sickness.
I'd check out the LTT review of the index, he talks about this issue a bit in it. Cheers!

Now that is a perspective I did not even think of. I thought due to the fact it was a large scale application, and expensive hardware at a public event displaying stuff we normal people could really never buy, that it would be better. Never did the thought
cross my mind that a smaller scale application would be more personalized and I could adjust certain settings. Thanks for the reply that's a good thought.
