Verizon Fios, STB Motorola 7232-P2, Unable to find signal to watch tv

    Hi,

I currently have Verizon Fios and my STB model is a Motorola 7232-P2.

When I would open my tv app when I first installed I could watch tv no problem. Then about 2 months ago, it stopped permanently. Every time I run the cable through the xbox one (Yes, I have all cables configured properly, xbox branded hdmi etc etc.) I get
an error when opening the tv app that states unable to find signal, please make sure that hdmi cable is plugged in etc. Now, I removed the HDMI from the xbox one from the STB and plug it directly into my tv, perfect tv signal, picture, and sound displays on
my tv. Is there a work around for this issue? I am pretty sure that there is a compatibility issue between the Motorola 7232-P2 STB and the Xbox one, but, the forums don't have any information on it. Verizon says to use the two separately, because they do
not support anything other than their normal set up. Please let me know what the problem is and if I can fix it!!!

    Dayton

    :)

  2. We've lost your tv signal update

After the July update, whenever I wanted to watch live tv, I got the the " we've lost your tv signal". After several back and forth e-mails with MS they sent out a new xbox. This didn't fix the problem. The only way to fix this issue is to hard boot the
xbox one. Is anyone at Microsoft addressing this issue? This has turned into such a hassle.

    Hey l Will End You!

There are some Motorola STB's that are known to be incompatible with the Xbox One console, including

this model that is similar to yours, but let's do our best to narrow this down.

First let's try a couple different HDMI cables between your Xbox One console and the set top box to rule out any cable issues. After that, follow these steps to reset your OneGuide settings:

    • Go to Settings by pressing the menu button on your Xbox One controller.
    • Within the settings menu, select 'TV & OneGuide'.
    • After that, select 'Troubleshooting' and proceed to reset your TV settings.
    • If possible, try bringing your Xbox One to a friend or family member's house and try a different set top box to further narrow down the issue if the above steps don't do the trick.
Give those a shot and let us know how it goes!

Thanks Mister Beep for the quick response.

-Tried 3 different HDMI cables now, all don't work bringing tv connection to xbox and all work straight from STB to TV.

-Reset TV settings and set it up again. No luck

-TV works when using a comcast STB at another location.

It sounds like it is a STB compatibility issue. Maybe we should add this model to the list as well?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the information! Before we come to that conclusion, could you shoot me the Device ID associated to your Xbox One console that will not connect to the Verizon STB you have in a private message?

To find out the Device ID, follow these steps:

    • Press the menu button on your Xbox One controller and select Settings.
    • In the settings menu, select 'System'.
    • After that, select 'Console info'.
    • The ID you will want to pass of to me is the Xbox Live device ID that starts with
      FD**************.
To private message me, click the little envelope below this post! Verizon Fios, STB Motorola 7232-P2, Unable to find signal to watch tv :)

    Mister Beep,

I have since switched cable providers thinking that would solve the problem. But I did go back and test the Verizon Fios box after I realized the problem. I now have DirecTV.

Anyway, I believe that the issue I was having was due to the cable box not being able to handshake with the tv itself. The cables I was switching out were from the cable box to the xbox one only. I never thought there could be an issue with the cable between
the xbox one and the tv. So, I changed the HDMI cable I had from the xbox one to the tv with a HDMI cable w/ ethernet. Everything works perfect now. One guide is all set up and xbox one is communicating with both cable providers boxes.

On another note, during this entire time I was having live tv issues, I was also having problems with netflix. Only certain shows would work and others would start and then an error would pop up stating that netflix could not playback the episode and to
try again later. After switching this HDMI cable, all of those problems have ceased as well.

If Xbox support had mentioned to make sure the second cable from xbox one to tv was another high end cable, this may have been resolved earlier. All the support specialists were focused on the cable from the STB to the xbox one only. It is not their fault,
but, maybe this can help them with troubleshooting in the future.
