  1. Ventilation of powered off Xbox one S console?!?

I am new here. My Xbox One S is only 2 months old. It stands on my desk, not blocked, plenty of air. I can hear during the nights when the house is silent that although it’s switched off it still spins it’s ventilator like every 5-10 mins for a few seconds.
I thought it’s normal but yesterday I couldn’t turn the console on. The switch on button lit on gave a sound but did not start the console. At the same time the console was bit warm. I pulled it of the wall socket and today it starts perfectly, but still ventilating
every 5 mins a tiny bit...

I don’t think the shop will take it back for reparations if I cannot present a “real malfunction”, but on the other hand I don’t think it’s okay... what should I do?!?

    :)

    Xbox One overheating issue

I just purchased the Xbox One less than a month ago, and for the first time ever the console just shut off then powered back on in a middle of a game. I was playing for maybe 2 hours straight. Really Disappointing! My Xbox 360 never did this, not once in
a 6hr straight gaming session. My console is setup exactly as Microsoft suggested in their article (support.xbox.com/.../ventilation), the best part of that article says
"If your console consistently shuts down automatically due to ventilation problems, even after the console is free from clutter and no vents are obstructed, your console will need service." which means your hosed! Apparently following their suggested ventilation
setup will not prevent the console from frying itself out. I'm Seriously considering a product return on this now.

    Thanks MS

Ventilation of powered off Xbox one S console?!?

    Hi

If the console has been set to instant on mode them the fans may continue to run whilst the console is switched off especially if the console is running background tasks like updating games etc, if the fan noise is very quiet then there is probably nothing
to worry about. Also please don't forget the console has an internal power supply that may generate some heat when the console is switched off.

    Please see
    this article
to ensure your console has sufficient ventilation.

    my xbox won't turn on

If the console is a xbox one and uses a power brick, check Reset power supply solution. The power brick may be overheating and/or faulty and needs replacing. The link above details the lights on/off meanings.

If the console is a S or X check the steps in Position ventilate console

    Xbox one X very hot

All Xbox One consoles (Xbox One X, Xbox One S, original Xbox One) are designed to ventilate air to keep them at an optimal temperature during use. Your console may feel hot around the vents, but this is
normal. Hot air is being ventilated from the console to cool the interior. Keeping the console free from obstructions and clutter will allow it to ventilate properly. See

How to position your Xbox One console
    for more details.

Note If you are using an Xbox One S or Xbox One X console in a vertical orientation, using the proper console stand is required to ensure the bottom vent is not blocked. For more information,
    go to
Using the vertical stands for the Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles
    .

If the console overheats and shuts down, this is an indication that your console is getting too hot, and you may need to adjust its placement or remove items that may be blocking vents.

Follow these tips to make sure your console can ventilate properly:

    • Do not block ventilation openings on the console. Even something that seems insignificant, like a disc case, may limit ventilation. Make sure the power supply, which has a built-in fan, also has adequate ventilation. See

About the Xbox One power supply
      .
Note This is not applicable to the Xbox One S or Xbox One X, which have an internal power supply.
    • Do not place the console or power supply on a bed, sofa, or other soft surface that may block ventilation.
    • Do not place the console or power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, rack, or stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
    • Do not place the console or power supply near any heat source, such as a radiator, heat register, stove, or amplifier. Very hot heat sources can damage the console.
    • Avoid excessively dusty environments, which can reduce thermal performance.
If your console consistently shuts down automatically due to ventilation problems, even after the console is free from clutter and no vents are obstructed, it will need service.

    You can
    request a repair
from Device Support. Console registration is required to service your console.

The Xbox is overheating due to poor ventilation

Theres a fault on the console itself.
