Various problems with accounts

I'll try and put this simply.

I own two accounts, one is my main account which I named when I was younger so the name's pretty dumb and the email is an old one too. The email is given to me by my ISP and I still have access but I'm changing my ISP soon so I don't think I'll have access
after that.

This other account is more recent, on a gmail address so I've got good access to that and the gamertag is much nicer. I created it to enjoy the free Xbox gold weekends and kinda restart on my favourite game, FIFA.

My ideal situation is to delete this new account to free up the gamertag, and change my old one to that name, and also change the email of the old one so I have access to it forever.

How can I solve this problem best? Please lend me a hand! If you have a question please ask, I'm not sure I put this very well.

When you said it gets so far and then stops, does it display any sort of numerical error code at all?

Have you tried to look in your console's storage device to make sure there isn't any sort of corrupt profile? You can do that by going to Settings > System > Storage > Hard Drive > Gamer Profiles > Take a look for any profile in that folder that has a
( ! ) symbol. If you find something with that symbol, try to delete the profile (profile only), clear your cache, restart your console, and then try to download the profile again.

Delete Profile Safely:



Go to Settings, and then select System.

Select Storage.

Select All Devices.

Select Gamer Profiles.

Select the gamertag that you want to delete.

Select Delete.

Select Delete Profile Only.

Clear Cache:

Go to Settings, and then select System.

Select Storage.

Highlight Hard Drive, and press Y

Select Clear Cache, and press Yes.

Restart Console:

Download Profile:

Push the middle button on your XBOX 360 controller.

Select Download Profile.

If you see nothing corrupt there at all or any sort of profile in the storage folder then try to just simply clear your system cache 3 times over and try to download the profile again and see if it works this time.

Clear Cache 3 Times (Important):

Go to Settings, and then select System.

Select Storage.

Highlight Hard Drive, and press Y

Select Clear Cache, and press Yes.

Finally got the update on my xbox, but i cant recover profiles it gets so far then stops can you leave some helpful info i have to go ill be back later

 

Hi.

You would have to pay for a gamertag change for both accounts.

First the one you wanna delete so the name is free.

Then you can change the one you wanna use to the one you deleted.

Thanks for the help HaloJolly, that's a good answer and I'll do that but that leaves the email problem unsolved. How do I change the email on an account?
